REVISING THE EXISTING CHAPTER 3.01 PERTAIhTNG TO
PERSONNEL POLICIES BY AMENDING SECTIONS 3.01350
"LONGEVITY," AUTHORIOG AND DIRECTING THE
ADMINISTRATIVE ADOPTION OF AN AMENDED PERSONNEL
MANUAL THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH THE TERMS OF THIS
ORDINANCE; PROVIDING A CONFLICT CLAUSE AND
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
WHEREAS, Section 2.16 of the Gcorgetown City Charier provides that the City Council shall; by
ordinance, establish personnel policies; and
WHEREAS, the "policy statemi portion of each personnel policy is codified in the Code of
Ordinances, and the implementing procedures for each personnel policy are codified in a separate
Personnel Manual: and
WHEREAS, tic new provisions of Cbapfer 3.01 will become effective on September I, 2009;
and
WHEREAS, the caption of this ordinance was printed in the Williamson County Sun in
compliance with the City Charter of the City of Georgetown.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTIONI: The foiegoingrecinds are line and correct and are incorporated herein by reference for all
purposes.
SPM: Georgetown Code of Ordinances See 3.01.350 "Longevity,I is hereby amended to
provide as follows:
See. 3.01350 Longevity
A. Purpose: To recognize employee's years of continuous service.
B. Policy: 'All fall time employees with two or more years of service are
eligible for longevity pay as funded by budget. Longevity will be computed by
multiplying the number of months of service completed on December 31st of each year,
times the monthly longevity rate accrued. The monthly longevity rate is determined by
the schedule below, and is based upon the whole years of service an employee will
complete any time during the calendar yem, A "whole year of service" is any full
calendar year following the last work day of the prior calendar year which the employee
was employed by the City.

The maximum years of service used to compute longevity is hventy-eight,
Upon termination, an employee will receive a pro -rated longevity payment based on the
number of months employed in that calendar year.
Part-time employees cam (ongevi pay on a pro -rated basis.
"Sworn Police Department employees and firefighters will still be eligible for longevity
inlheirfirstYear ofhire.
SECTION 10: The City staff is authorized and directed to draft and implement a new Personnel -Moral
that has policies identical to and procedures consistent with the above itemized changes,
SECTION 11. This ordinance shall be and is hereby declared to be cumulative of all other ordinances of
the City of Georgetown, and, except as expressly set ford herein, this ordinance shall not operate m
repeal or affect any of such other ordinances, except insofar as the provisions thereof might he
inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, in which event such conflicting
provisions, if any in such other ordinanceor onmi noes are hereby superseded.
SECTION 12. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance he
declared unconstitutional or invalid for any purpose by a cowl of competemjurisdictim, the remainder of
this ordinance shall not be affected thereby and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to
be severable.
SECTION 13, This Ordinance shall be and become effective in accordance with the terms and
provisions of the City Charter,
