MONTHS.
In November 2023 – Georgetown Teen Court was the host city here in Georgetown for the Annual Teen
Court conference, where Clerks and Judges come from around the state attended to learn and share
information from the Texas wide Teen courts, this conference was held here in Georgetown at the new
Fairfield Inn. We had 30 people in attendance and during the Teen Court Banquet the Georgetown Teen
Court won the top award of the 2023 Spotlight Award. This prestigious award is given to one court in the
state that has demonstrated exceptional progress, innovation, and achievement. Tina was also
nominated as President of the TCAT Association during the conference.
February 26 & 27, 2024 – Georgetown Municipal court and Teen Court served again as host city for the
yearly “How to Start a Teen Court” training session sponsored by TMCEC and TXDOT, there was over 30
people in attendance and was another very successful training with over 32 Judges and clerks in
attendance.
Saturday, March 23, 2024, nine teen attorneys from the Georgetown Teen Court program along with one
Teen Court Coordinator from the Municipal Court and one from the Georgetown High School, and Court
Administrator Holly Hafey, along with two local attorneys who volunteered to train and mentor the teens
in preparation for the statewide Mock Trial competition. Two teams of three Georgetown attorneys
competed and one of our teams came in third place missing a bid for the final round for the top in the
state by two points. The teens practiced for 6 weeks two to three times a week after school hours to
prepare for this statewide competition. A special thank you to Brian Hutchins, Assistant District Attorney
for WILCO, Alli Assiter, Family Violence Director, Assistant County Attorney for WILCO and Judge Randy
Stump with the Georgetown Municipal Court for their training and mentoring of these students for over
13 nights of training.
On April 4, 2024, the Georgetown Municipal Court was awarded For Excellence in Promoting Traffic
Safety from the TMCEC (Texas Municipal Courts Education Center). The presentation took place in San
Antonio during the Safety Conference, this award is sponsored by TXDOT and is an application process of
showing your court has made outstanding contributions to increase traffic safety in 2023. The process
involves visual support with 25 pages of samples and a three-page written process of the
accomplishments.
