HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurie Brewer recognition_03.2024 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The Texas City Management Association annually recognizes the city management professional who has made significant contributions in the development of new talent and/or who has designed and implemented outstanding career development programs for local government employees; and WHEREAS, Laurie Brewer, Assistant City Manager, will be honored at the Annual Conference in June as the recipient of the Annual Mentoring Award in Memory of Gary Gwyn, for her development and support of numerous programs within our organization and beyond, which grow, lead, and develop municipal employees; and WHEREAS, Laurie personally connects with staff she supervises with patience and compassion, and throughout the city she is seen as a mentor’s mentor. She has the ability to build teams and cultivate talent in people at all stages of their career, helping young students navigate the challenges of their first job to guiding long-tenured department directors in their career growth; and WHEREAS, with Laurie’s quiet, but powerful leadership style, she brings disparate groups together to see common goals and drive continual improvement through challenges and trust, and by taking the time to listen and grow; and WHEREAS, Laurie has shaped many new leaders across our organization, seeing the light in people and helping them put it to use, and Georgetown is truly blessed to have Laurie in our organization, and the people she has mentored and the legacy she has created will bear fruit for years to come.
