PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, it is estimated that heart attacks impact 805,000 Americans each year, and this equates
to a heart attack occurring approximately every 40 seconds; and
WHEREAS, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death and its victims are mothers,
fathers, grandparents, siblings, friends, and children; and
WHEREAS, cardiovascular disease costs the United States more than $378 billion each year
through healthcare services, medications, and lost productivity; and
WHEREAS, the American Heart Association’s 2024 Impact Goal for every person to have the
opportunity to live a full, healthy life, by 2024, the American Heart Association will advance
cardiovascular health for all, including identifying and removing barriers to health care access and
quality; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown Fire Department is committed to improving the safety and health of
the community through prevention, education, and response services;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
do hereby recognize February 2024 as
AMERICAN HEART MONTH
