HomeMy WebLinkAboutNational Search and Rescue Week_05.2023 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, in 2023 there were 47,670 missing persons reports in Texas with 12,842 of them being adults and 34,828 of these children; and WHEREAS, Texas Search and Rescue is made up of multiple divisions across the State and deploys to all 254 counties in the State of Texas. TEXSAR has been a significant leader in emergency services and disaster response in the great state of Texas since 2004 and over the years has evolved into one of the largest non-paid search and rescue organizations in the State; and WHEREAS, TEXSAR serves all citizens of the State of Texas and deploys at the request of law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management agencies; providing specialized services such as ground search and rescue; flood and swift water rescue; K9 search, rescue, and recovery; disaster relief services; wildland fire; and aerial search; TEXSAR is fully staffed by volunteers who are trained professionals in their fields.; and NOW, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim the week of May 21, 2023 as SEARCH AND RESCUE WEEK in Georgetown, Texas and offers its thanks to all the first responder agencies and Search and Rescue agencies that support and work tirelessly on finding those who are lost and bringing closures to the families of the missing.
