HomeMy WebLinkAboutNational Disaster Preparedness Month_07.2023 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security have been established to coordinate with the emergency response agencies and the public to protect life and property from the effects of major emergencies and disasters through mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery actions; and WHEREAS, each year brings the potential threat for natural disasters or human-caused emergencies to the Georgetown, Texas area; and WHEREAS, each of us can take action to prepare for an emergency such as a fire or flood, including making and practicing plans for yourself, friends and family as well as participating in preparations for neighborhoods and communities. The 2023 theme is "Helping Older Adults Prepare for Disasters."; and WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month is a nationwide effort held each September to raise awareness about the importance of planning for all types of disasters and to promote family and community disaster and emergency planning now and throughout the year. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS do hereby proclaim, September 2023 as NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH In Georgetown, Texas
