HomeMy WebLinkAboutNational Day of Service_09.2023 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, 9/11 National Day of Service is an annual event encouraging individuals, families, and communities to serve those around them in an ongoing effort to change the world and foster unity through small acts of service by ordinary people, and WHEREAS, on September 9, 2023, the Georgetown Ministerial Alliance hosts an event making no- sew t-shirt bags to benefit local food pantries: The Caring Place, The Salvation Army and Helping Hands of Georgetown; and WHEREAS, by inspiring millions of Americans and others to volunteer, donate to charities, and perform other good deeds and acts of kindness, 9/11 Day has become a positive and appropriate ways for Americans to annually keep the promise to “Never Forget” those killed and injured on 9/11, as well as the many who courageously rose in service in response to the attacks – first responders, recovery workers, and volunteers – along with members of our military; and WHEREAS, at its heart, Georgetown is an incredibly service-minded community full of acts of kindness and love all year long and this event highlights that continued spirit of service and unity, while supporting the ongoing efforts of our local food pantries. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TX do hereby proclaim September 9, 2023 as NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE in GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
