HomeMy WebLinkAboutIsaiah 117 Children's Advocacy_01.2023 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has an interest in supporting children entering the foster care system; and WHEREAS, when children are removed from their homes out of concern for their welfare, they are usually brought to the Child Protective Services offices to await placement with a foster family. This wait can be several hours to nearly a full day; and WHEREAS, these children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and in dirty clothing. Isaiah 117 House provides a comforting home where these children instead can be brought to wait - a place that is safe, with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets; and WHEREAS, the Isaiah 117 House’s welcoming space allows children to receive the comfort and care they need, while Child Protective Services staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a good foster placement; and WHEREAS, Isaiah 117 House is changing the way foster care begins. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TX do hereby proclaim January 17, 2023 ISAIAH 117 HOUSE DAY in Georgetown, Texas
