PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, it is estimated that heart attacks impact nearly 1-million Americans each year, and this
equates to a heart attack occurring approximately every 34 seconds; and
WHEREAS, heart disease remains the leading cause of death and its victims are mothers, fathers,
grandparents, siblings, friends, and children; and
WHEREAS, cardiovascular disease costs the United States more than $378 billion each year
through healthcare services, medications, and lost productivity; and
WHEREAS, the American Heart Association’s 2024 impact goals will advance cardiovascular
health for all, including identifying and removing barriers to health care access and quality; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown Fire Department is committed to improving the safety and health of
the community through prevention, education, and response services;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS,
do hereby recognize February 2023 as
AMERICAN HEART MONTH
