POL1-31 ` IRFS, FIXTU9FS, CABTE S AND UNDFR- GROLr'ID CONDUITS IN THE STRIEETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC GROUNDS OF THH CCITY OF GEORGETO�Vq TEXAS, FOR THE- PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING, OPERATING AITD 1A INTAINING A TELEPHONE SYSTEM An- OF PLACING ITS WIRES, CABLES AND CONDUCTORS IN SAID CONDUITS AND TO CONNECT THE SAME "KITH ITS OVERHEAD TELEPHONE CONSTRUCTION AS IT NOW OR MAY HERBAFTER EXIST, AND AS THE SAME MAY BE EXTENDED FROM TIME TO TIME IN SAID C I rf q AND TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN SUCH TELEPHONE SYSTEM SO CONSTRUCTED AND SO CONNECTED FOR THE TERM OF TWENTY- FIVE YEARS. Section 1. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that the right is herby granted to George- town Telephone Company, its successors and assigns, to construct, operate and maintain its lines of poles, wires and fixtures con- nected therewith, along, in and upon the streets, alleys and public grounds of the City of Georgetown, for the purpose of maintaining and operating a telephone exchange in said City, and to maintain and operate the same for the term of twenty-five years from the date and passage of this ordinance. Section 2. The said Georgetown Telephone Company is also hereby granted the right to construct underground conduits along and under all the streets, alleys and public grounds of the said City of Georgetown, and to place therein its wires and cables and to connect same with its overhead telephone construction in said city of Georgetown and such other overhead construction as may be from time to time convenient and necessary for the purpose of operating its telephone system in said City, and to maintain and operate the same so connected and ?laced for the ,term of this franchise. Section 3. Said telephone poles, wires and fixtures, shall be constructed and maintained subject to the reasonable regulations of the City Council of said City of Georgetown, and erected at such places as the Council may direct, and said underground conduits shall be placed along such sides of said streets and alleys and at such places as may be provided by said City Council. That each company shall have the power, by a majority vote, to expell any member from the said company, provided, however, that any member absenting himself, from fires, and from meetings, without excuse, as herein provided, or moves out of the City, shall cease to be a member, without any further action on the part of his company, and shall be so treated, when the list of membership is being made up, as herein provided. Section 6. That any member expelled from a company, or who shall lose his membership, for non attendance of fires and meetings, as herein provided, shall not be eligible to member- ship in any company of the Department for 12 months thereafter. Section 7. That the Secretary of each of the companies of The Fire Department shall, on or before the regular meetings of the City Council of this City for the months of January, April, July and October of each year, file with the City Clerk of this City a list of all of the members of his company in good standing, for the last preceding quarter, and that the name of no member expelled, or who has moved out of the City, or who has lost his membership for non attendance at fires or at meet- ings as herein provided shall be included in the said lists of membership, so filed. Section 8. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 9. That the fact that there is no ordinance of this City regulating the membership in the Fire Department of the said City, creates an imperative public necessity that the rules be suspended, and that this a^dina.nce take effect from and after its passage; which is here ordered.
