AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 1.12.030 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF THE FUTURE
MOBILITY PLAN, INCLUDING UPDATES TO THE FUNCTIONAL
TRANSPORTATION PLAN, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE I,
SECTION 1.08 OF THE GEORGETOWN CITY CHARTER AND
FUNCTIONAL ELEMENTS THEREOF; REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS; INCLUDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Georgetown was amended by vote of the
people in April 1986 such that comprehensive planning was established as a continuous and
ongoing governmental function; and
WHEREAS, on February 26, 2008, Ordinance Number 2008-07, as updated on March
10,2020, Ordnance 2020-27, amended Chapter 1.12 Georgetown Comprehensive Plan in the Code
of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown, defining the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and elements
adopted thereof, and
WHEREAS, the established vision of the City is "Georgetown: A welcoming and safe
community honoring our past and planning for a vibrant future"; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Update is to modify land use assumptions and
development patterns emerging on the east side of the city, and update the tools of the Future
Mobility Plan including the thoroughfare map and cross sections; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission did hold a Public Hearing on the
Update to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and above -mentioned elements on November 21, 2023,
and upon completion of the Public Hearing voted unanimously to recommend its adoption; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did hold one Public Hearing on November 28, 2023 and
upon completion of the second reading of the ordinance voted unanimously to adopt the Update to
the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and above -mentioned elements on December 12, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements the stated
vision for the community.

SECTION 3. Section 1.12.030 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown is
hereby amended as follows:
In accordance with Chapter 1.08, Subsection 2 of the Georgetown City Charter, the City
Council of the City of Georgetown has adopted that certain document entitled the "Future
Mobility Plan" for the purpose of directing the City Council, staff, and/or commissions in
rendering actions and resolutions relating to the utilization of all of the available resources
within the City and its Planning Area for the purpose of developing a public transportation
network of roads. This document is dated December 12, 2023, and may be amended from
time to time.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or
application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall become effective in accordance with the provisions of
the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
