AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN v
TEXAS, DENYING THE APPLICATION OF THE
SOUTHCPEST TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR AN
INCREASE IN ITS RATES AND AGAIN DECLARING
ESTABLISHING AND FIXING THE RATES THAT
IT MAY CHARGE.
WHEREAS, the Southwest Telephone Company, the owner and
operator of a Telephone System in the City of Georgetown, Texas,
as the successor to the Georgetown Telephone Company, charging and
collecting tolls for services rendered to its patrons under and by
virtue of that certain ordinance of the said Gity of Georgetown,
Texas, passed and approved on the 14th day of May, A. D. 1823, has
heretofore made application to the City Council of the said city
that the said tolls and rates so fixed by the said ordinance be
increased in the following particulars and amounts, to -wit:

AND, WHEREAS, the said City Gouncil of the said City
acting under and by virtue of the powers vested in it by and
under the provisions of the 'gots of the 45h Legislature of Texas,
Chapter 144, page 274, Aots of 1937, after giving and considering
a full and complete hearing of the said application of the said
Southwest Telephone Company and after hearing and considering
fully the evidence and arguments offered for and against the said

application, finds that the said application of the said
Southwest Telephone Company for an increase of its tolls, rates
and charges, as above set out should in all things be denied,
and further finds that the tolls, rates and charges that may be
received, charged, and collected by the said Southwest Telephone
Company for services rendered to its patrons within the said
City of Georgetown, Texas, shall continue, be and remain as
fixed by the said ordinance of the said City of date May 14th,
A. D. 1923, and that the said tolls, rates and charges, fixed
by the said ordinance of date May 14th, 1923, are again herein
re -ordained to be the rates and charges and tolls that may here-
after be charged and collected by the said Southwest Telephone
Company for services to its patrons within the said City,
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
1st. That the application of an increase in the
tolls., charges, and rates to be changed by the Southwest
Telephone Company to its patrons in the City of Georgetown, Texas,
above mentioned, be and is in all. things denied, and that the
tolls, rates and charges, as fixed by the ordinance of the said
City of date May 14, 1923, above mentioned, shall be and continue
as the rates and charges and tolls that may be charged and
collected by the said Southwest Telephone Company and its
successors and assigns till hereafter.ohanged in the manner
prescribed by law.
2nd. That the tolls, rates, and charges, that may
hereafter be received, charged and collected by the said South-
west Telephone Company, its successors and assigns, are here
more specifically set out as follows:

Where phone is taken for less than one year .50 may be
added to the above rates.

Hotels, boarding and rooming houses shall pay $4.25 per
month, and every residence occupied by two families who
use the same phone, or in which two or mare rooms are
rented and the occupants of the rented rooms use the
phone in such residence, shall pay 44.00 per month.
That the rates specified in this paragraph are a
continuation of the rates set out in the said ordinance of date
May 14th, 1923, above mentioned; and that the rates here set out
shall continue in force as the maximum rates, charges and tolls,
that may be charged and collected by the said Southwest Telephone
Company, its successors and assigns, till the same are changed
in the manner prescribed by law.
3rd. That the matters and things covered by this
ordinance of such importance that they constitute a public
necessity that this ordinance be at once passed and that it
take effect from and after its passage.
