HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 12.14.1908 - Speed LimitsAN ORDINANCE FIXING THE LIMITS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN IN WHICH AN AITTOMOHILF OR MOTOR VEHTCDj' SHALL NOT BE DRIVEN OR OPEP.ATED AT A GREATER RATE OF SPEED THAN EIGHT MILFS AN HOUR. WHEREAS by Chapter XCVI, Section 2 of the General Laws of Texas passed bir the Thirtieth Legislature, page 193, it is provided among other things that no automobile or motor vehile shall be driven or operated upon a.public road, street or driveway within the builtup portions of any city, town or village, the limits of which shall be fixed by the municipal officers thereof, at a greater rate of speed then eight miles an hour; Now therefore, for the purpose of fixing such limits so as to put said eight mile.an hour limit of speed in effect in the city of Georgetown, Texas, Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of George- town, Texas: -- That the limits'�_withli rbhich an automobile or motor ve- hicle shall not be driven or operated upon any public road, e. street or driveway within the City of Georgetown as provided in Chapter XCVI, Section 2, of the General Laws of Texas page 193 passed by ther Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Texas are hereby fixed so as to include all the public roads, streets and driveways within the corporate limits of the City of Georgetown, provided that said speed limit shall not apply to race courses or speedways. .
