HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 10.15.1906 - Speed LimitsAN ORDINANCE TO REGITLATE THE RUr NTNG AND SPEED OF AUTOMOBILES AND OTHER COMM, ANCRS OF A SIMALAR TYPE AND RIND ALONG OR UPON THE STREETS„ALLEYS AND OTHER PUBLICS PLACES WITHIN TETE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GVORG'ETOWNq TEXAS r B Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, f Texas„thatt- It shall be unlawful for any persons to drive, run,00nduct or propel any automobile,or any other aonveyanos of a similar type or kind,along or upon the streets,alleys or other public places of the City of Osorgetown at a greater rate of speed than six miles per hour,or to turn the corner of any street at a greater rate of speed than three miles per hour* See.2. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons ro drive, run* sonduat or propel any automobil.e,or any other conveyance of a sim- ilar type or kind,at night along or upon the streets,alleys or other public places of said City without having at least two lamps on the front of said automobile or other similar eonveyanee show - ink; white lights,and one lamp behind showing a red light. It shall be the duty for any person or persons driving, run- ning.conducting or propeling any atutomobile,or any other conveyance of a similar type or kind,within the limits of this City,in ap- proaching any horse, or horses, or mule or mules, ridden or driven by any person or persons upon any street alley or other public 4� place in this City„to operate,manage and control such automobilex or other similar conveyance in such manner as to exercise every reasonable precaution to prevent the frightening of such horse or horses,or mule or mules and to insure safety of any person or per- sons riding or driving the same,and whenever it shall appear that a any horse or horses,or mule or mulss,ridden or driven as afore- said is,about to become frightened by the approach or such auto- mobile or other similar oonveyance,it shall be the duty of 'he person driving,running,conducting or p ropeling such automobile or other similar conveyance to cause the, same to cocks to a full stop until such horse or horses,or mule or mules have passed,been taken away or gotten under full control by the person or persona riding or driving the same. Ses.4#, any person violating any of the provisions, of this ordinanos shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanoryand,upon conviction there. of,shall be fined in any sues not less than Ten nor more than Two Hundred Dollars.
