AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 2002-21, AS CODIFIED AT
CHAPTER 2.110 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, PERTAINING
TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY BOARD; PROVIDING A
CONFLICT CLAUSE AND SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2002, by Ordinance No. 2002-21, the City Council of the City of
Georgetown created the Public Safety Advisory Board to advise and assist the City Council in the
performance of its duties; and
WHEREAS, one of the main tasks of the Public Safety Advisory Board was to advise the City
Council on a compensation plan for the Police Department and the Fire Department. That task has
been completed, and the City Council finds that the Public Safety Advisory Board is no longer
necessary as a standing Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby
found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly
made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance
implements the following elements of the Century Plan Policy Plan and that the enactment of this
ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section
2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan:
Public Safety End 8.00: Citizens of Georgetown feel safe and are well protected from
crime and disorder, natural disasters and emergencies.
Finance Policy End 14.00: All municipal operations are conducted in an efficient business -like
manner and sufficient financial resources for both current and future needs are provided.
Governmental Affairs Element 6.0: A high level of cooperation and involvement exists among
Georgetown's citizens and governmental organizations.
SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 2002-21, as codified at Chapter 2.110 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Georgetown, pertaining to the establishment of the Public Safety Advisory Board, is
hereby repealed in its entirety and the Public Safety Advisory Board is hereby abolished.
SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application
thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to
attest. This Ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in accordance with the
provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
