AN ORDINANCE LENDING APPENDIX A OF THE CITY OF GEORCETORN, TEXAS CODE
OF ORDINANCES (THE ZONING ORDINANCE), PART 11; BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT BY
AMEM1DING SECTION 11.2 "ORGANIZATION", PURSUANT TO THE GENERAL CITY
ELECTION HELD ON MAY 7, 1988 WHICH AMENDED THE CITY CHARTER
WHEREAS, on May 7, 1988 the voters of the City of Georgetown,
Texas approved an amendment to Section 2.14 of Article II of the City
Charter which amendment states that
The Council shall have the power to establish boards, commission
and committees to assist it in carrying out its duties in accor-
dance with State law. Members of such bodies shall be recom-
mended by the Mayor and appointed by vote of a majority of the
Council in open meeting unless otherwise provided by law. Should
the Mayor fail to recommend and/or the Council fail to appoint
the member(s) recommended by the Mayor, a majority of the Council
plus one may make the appointment(s) without a recommendation of
the Mayor"; and
WHEREAS., the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas did
adopt an Ordinance on March 10, 1981 establishing a Board of Adjustment
for the City and establishing organization and procedures for such
Board;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL ID BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEOR-
GETOWN, TEXAS, that:
SECTION I.
The recitals set forth above are true and correct and incorporated
herein as if fully set forth at length,
SECTION II.
Section 11.2 "Organization", of Appendix A (the Zoning Ordinance), Part
Eleven: Board of Adjustment, of Ordinance No, 870081.00A, is hereby
amended by adding the following language:
Section 11.2 ORGANIZATION
The Board of Adjustment shall consist of five (S) members whose
appointments shall be made on the recommendation of the Mayor and
approved by a vote of a majority of the City Council in regular open
meetings. Should the Mayor fail to recommend and/or the Council fail
to apoint the member(s) recommended by the Meyor, a majority of the
Council plus one may make the appoiutment(s) without a recommendation
of the Mayof; each to be appointed for a term of two (2) years...."

SECTION III.
All other ordinances, parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict
with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV.
If any article, paragraph or part of a paragraph of this Ordinance is
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent juris-
diction, the same shall not invalidate or impair the validity, force or
effect of any other article, paragraph or part of a paragraph of this
Ordinance.
