EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, at the regular City Council meeting on December 14, 2004, a request from
the Main Street Advisory Board to increase the number of members on that board from seven (7)
to nine (9) was considered and approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council now finds it desirable to amend the provisions of the City
Code pertaining to the number of members on the Main Street Advisory Board to reflect that the
number of members shall be increased from seven (7) to nine (9); and
WHEREAS, the two new members shall be at -large positions.

SECTION l: The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
ordinance implements the following elements of the Century Plan Policy Plan and that the
enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as
required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan:
Parks Plan Element 11.0: All citizens actively participate in community -wide social,
cultural, and recreational activities.
Economic Development Plan Element 1.0: Georgetown's economy is self-sustaining
through diversified growth, a broad tax base with minimal impact from economic
fluctuation, enhanced business opportunity and job creation.
Governmental Affairs Element 6.0: A high level of cooperation and involvement exists
among Georgetown's citizens and governmental organizations.
SECTION 2. Section 2.69.040 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown is
hereby amended as follows:

Sec. 2.69.040. Appointment.
A. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the City Council to serve
two-year terms except for the initial term, which varies as set out in subsection C
of this section.
B. The City Council shall appoint members of the Board representing public
and private sector interests, including but limited to the following: County
Commissioner Precinct 3 or his/her representative; Chamber of Commerce
representative; one member from either the Georgetown Heritage Society or
Williamson County Historical Commission; downtown commercial property
owner; downtown business owner; downtown association leader; and three
citizens at large.
C. The initial terms of service of each Board member shall be as follows:
1. County Commissioner: three years;
2. Chamber of Commerce: two years;
3. Historical organization: two years;
4. Downtown property owner: three years;
5. Downtown business owner: two years;
6. Downtown Georgetown Association leader: three years;
7. Citizens at large: two years.
D. In the event that any Board member ceases to be a member of the group
he/she was appointed to represent, the Board member shall automatically forfeit
membership on the Board.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be and is hereby declared to be cumulative of all other
ordinances of the City of Georgetown, and this ordinance shall not operate to repeal or affect any of
such other ordinances, except insofar as the provisions thereof might be inconsistent or in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance, in which event such conflicting provisions, if any in such
other ordinance or ordinances are hereby superseded.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or
application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City
Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in
accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
