DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION; PROVIDING
REPEALING CLAUSE AND SEVERABILITY CLAUSEI
AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 27, 2001 the City Council of Georgetown, Texas adopted
Ordinance no 2001-17 establishing the Economic Development Commission ("EDC"); and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2001-17 inadvertently omitted several business categories from
the list of business representatives who could be appointed to the EDC; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be in the best interest of the public to conform
Ordinance No. 2001-17 with the actions of the City Council on June 13, June 27, July 11, 2000
and January 23, 2001 in establishing the EDC; and
WHEREAS, the caption of this ordinance was printed in the Williamson County Sun on
January 27, 2002 in compliance with the City Charter of the City of Georgetown;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
ordinance implements the following elements of the Century Plan Policy Plan and that the
enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as
required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan:
Economic Development Plan Element 1.0: Georgetown's economy is self-sustaining
through diversified growth, a broad tax base with minimal impact from economic
fluctuation, enhanced business opportunity and job creation.
SECTION 2. Section 2.100.010 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown is
hereby amended as follows:
C. At the expiration of the initial term of the Commission, the Commission shall consist
of eleven (11) members which shall be composed of at least one regular member
representing each of the following organizations: Georgetown Independent School

District, Southwestern University, Williamson County government and the Chamber of
Commerce. Five members will be appointed from applicants representing the following
organizations or industries: professional; manufacturing industry; financial industry;
Downtown Business District; the tourism and lodging industry; retail; construction
industry; development; transportation industry; and service industries. The remaining
two places shall be filled by citizens -at -large. All members shall reside in the city limits
or extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in
conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect."
SECTION 4 If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or
application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary
to attest. This Ordinance shall become effective in accordance with the provisions of State law and
the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
