A RESOLUTION FINDING AND DECLARING THAT +
THERE EXISTS A NEED FOR THE HOUSING AUTIIORITY +
OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, TO FUNCTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
1. The Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas hereby determines, finds,
and declares in pursuance of the "Housing Authorities Law" of the State of Texas,
that:
A. Insanitary and unsafe inhabited dwelling accommondations exist in the
City of Georgetown, Texas, and
B. There is a shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations in said
City available to faimlies of low income rentalsthey can afford, and
C. There is a nned for the Housing Authority of the City of Georgetown, Texas
to function.
2. In accordance with the foregoing findings, the Housing Authority of the
City of Georgetown, Texas, is authorized to transact business and exercise its powers
pursuant to the Housing Authorities Law of the State of Texas.
3. The Mayor of the said City be and lie hereby is directed to file the
necessary Certificate relative to the appointment of the Commissioners and designation
of the first Chairman of the Housing Authority in the office of the City Secretary.
4. That the shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations for families
of low income compels such families to occupy unsafe, insanitary and over crowded
dwelling accommodations, and causes an increase in and spread of disease and crime,
thereby creating an emergency and making is necessary for the preservation of the
public peace, health and safety that this resolution becomes effective without delay
and therefore this resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon
its adoption.

RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR PRELIMINAILY
LOAN FOIL LOW VENT PUBLIC HOUSING.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGLTOWN, TITKAS:
1. It is the policy of this locality to eliminate substandard and other
inadequate housing, to prevent the spread of slums and blight, and to realize as
soon as feasible'thk goal of a decent ome in a suitable living environment for all
of its citizens: and
2. Under the provisions of the United States ]lousing Act of 1937, as amended,
the Public Ilousing Administration, is authorized to provide financial assistance to
local housing agencies for undertaking and carrying out preliminary planning of low
rent income housing projects that will assist in meeting this goal; and
3. The Act provides that there shall be local determination of need for low
rent housing to meet needs not being adequately met by private enterprise and that the
Public Housing Administration shall not make any contract with a public housing
agency.for preliminary loans for surveys and planning in respect to any low rent hmux*- -I
housing projects unless the governing body of the locality involved has by rrxtx
resolution approved the application of the public housing agency for such preliminary
loan; and
4. The Ilosuing Authority of the City of Georgetown, Texas, isa public housing
agency and is applying to the Public Housing Administration for a preliminary loan
to cover the costs of surveys and planning in. connection with the development of low
rent hosuing.
A. There exists in the City of Georgetown an need for such low rent housing
at rents within the means of low Income families:

1. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and driected to give notice of
the intention of the City of Georgetown, Texas, to enter into a Cooperation Agreement,
with the (lousing Authority of the City of Georgetown, Texas, by publishing a copy of
said notice in Williamson County Sun, which is the City's official designated news-
pape r.
2. Notice shall be published twice , on !March 18, 1965 and on March 25, 1965.
3. Said Notice shall state that at the expiration of sixty days from the date
of the first publication, the City shall consider the question of whether or not it
will enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the housing Authority.
4. The City Secretary shall keep a cppy of the Cooperation Agreement proposed
available for inspection by the public at the office of the City Secretary during
usual business hours.
5. This resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its
adoption.

Pursuant to a Resolution adopted on (March 15, 1965, by the Council of the
City of Georgetown, Texas, Notice is hereby given of the intention of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, to enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the housing Authority
of the City of Georgetown, Texas, and further,
Notice is hereby given that at the expiration of sixty days (60) from March
18, 1965, the Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas will consider the question of
whether or not it will enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the (lousing Authority
of the City of Georgetown, Texas. A copy of the proposed Cooperation Agreement is
available for the inspection of the public at the office of the City Secretary during
business hours.
This Notice is given and published pursuant to the Ilousing Cooperation Law of
the State of Texas
