HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 06.06.2022 CC-RNotice of a Special Meeting of the Governing Body of the City of Georgetown, Texas Monday, June 6, 2022 The Georgetown City Council will meet on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 6:00 PM at City Council Chambers located at 510 West 9th Street. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Mayor Schroeder called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The following Council Members were in attendance: Mayor Josh Schroeder; Amanda Parr, Council Member District 1; Shawn Hood, Council Member District 2; Mike Triggs, Council Member District 3; Ron Garland, Council Member District 4; Kevin Pitts, Council Member District 5 and Mayor Pro Tem; Jake French, Council Member District 6; and Ben Stewart, Council Member District 7. A quorum of Council Members was present in Council Chambers and a roll call was performed. Legislative Regular Session (This Regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) A. Public Hearing and second reading of an ordinance designating Reinvestment Zone No. 2022- 02, located at IH 35 and Southeast Inner Loop in Georgetown, Texas -- Michaela Dollar, Economic Development Director Dollar presented the item with no changes since the first reading. Mayor Schroeder opened and closed the public hearing at 6:01 p.m. with no speakers. Dollar read the caption. Motion by Pitts, second by Stewart to approve the item as presented. Parr - Yes Hood - Yes Triggs - Yes Garland - Yes Pitts - Yes French - Yes Stewart - Yes Approved 7-0. B. Consideration and possible action to approve the appointment of Cory Tchida as the Chief of Police for the City of Georgetown -- David Morgan, City Manager Morgan presented the item and reviewed the search process for Police Chief; his confidence in Tchida to do the job; and Tchida's credentials. Morgan read the caption. Motion by Pitts to approve Cory Tchida as Police Chief for the City of Georgetown, second by Triggs. Parr - Yes Hood - Yes Triggs - Yes Garland - Yes Pitts - Yes French - Yes Stewart - Yes Approved 7-0. C. Swearing -in of appointed Chief of Police -- Williamson County Judge Evelyn McLean McLean administered the oath to Tchida. Tchida made comments about accepting the position. Adjournment Motion by Stewart to adjourn, second by Garland. Parr - Yes Hood - Yes Triggs - Yes Garland - Yes Pitts - Yes French - Yes Stewart - Yes Approved 7-0.
