HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 12.03.2021 CC-RNotice of a Meeting of the Governing Body of the City of Georgetown, Texas Friday, December 3, 2021 The Georgetown City Council met on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 4:00 PM at the Council Chambers at 510 West 91h St., Georgetown, Texas. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Mayor Schroeder called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. The following Council Members were in attendance: Mayor Josh Schroeder; Amanda Parr, Council Member District 1; Shawn Hood, Council Member District 2; Mike Triggs, Council Member District 3; Steve Fought, Council Member District 4; Kevin Pitts, Council Member District 5 and Jake French, Council Member District 6. Tommy Gonzalez, Council Member District 7 was absent. A quorum of Council Members was present in Council Chambers. Policy Development/Review Workshop - A. Presentation and discussion regarding the redrawing of Council districts for the 2020 Census redistricting -- Skye Masson, City Attorney; and Bickerstaff, Heath, Delgado, Acosta, LLP Mayor called on Masson who introduced Cobby Caputo who is the consultant hired to coordinate the redistricting process. Caputo had the proposed Plan "C" map opened for everyone to see. He explained that making a hard district boundary of 15th Street and Hutto Road works well for the numbers and council members of Districts 1 and 6 met to ask questions and discuss ahead of this meeting and agreed that this would suit them. Caputo asked if there were any other question or comments. There were none. There was no need to move into an Executive Session. Masson explained that the first reading of the ordinance to adopt this plan and the new districts would be read at the next regular council meeting on December 14th. The second reading of the ordinance would be held at a special meeting, probably Friday, December 17th. Meeting the deadline to put the new districts in place by January 1, 2022. Executive Session In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's Texas Codes, Annotated, the items listed below will be discussed in closed session and are subject to action in the regular session. Sec. 551.071: Consultation with Attorney Advice from attorney about pending or contemplated litigation and other matters on which the attorney has a duty to advise the City Council, including agenda items.
