AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX RATE FOR THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, FOR THE TAX YEAR 2021; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas is an incorporated Home Rule city
dependent upon taxes to provide its citizens with services; and
and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas published the required notices; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas held a public hearing on September 14, 2021;
WHEREAS, all notification and public hearing requirements have been satisfied; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to levy taxes for the 2022 fiscal year for
the City of Georgetown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, this tax rate will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last
year's tax rate; and
WHEREAS, the tax rate will effectively be raised by negative 12.59 percent and will raise
taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately negative $23;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown (the "City Council") hereby
finds that all of the prerequisites to the levying of a tax rate for this City for the tax year 2021,
(including, without limitation, certifications, notices, submittals, and public hearings) as
required by law have been complied with.

SECTION 3. The City Council does hereby levy and adopt the tax rate on $100 valuation
for the tax year 2021 as follows:
$0.161319 for the purpose of maintenance and operation
0.239681 for the principal and interest on debt of this city
0.401000 total tax rate
SECTION 4. If any section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or provision of this Ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this
Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof other than the part so declared to be
invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption of its second and
final reading by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas.
