HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 05.10.2021 CC-SNotice of a Meeting of the Governing Body of the City of Georgetown, Texas Tuesday, May 10, 2020 The Georgetown City Council will meet on Tuesday, May 10, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the Council Chambers at 510 West 9th St., Georgetown, Texas. Mayor Schroeder called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The following Council Members were in attendance: Mayor Josh Schroeder; Mary Calixtro, Council Member District 1; Shawn Hood, Council Member District 2; Mike Triggs, Council Member District 3; Steve Fought, Council Member District 4; Kevin Pitts, Council Member District 5; and Tommy Gonzalez, Council Member District 7. Rachael Jonrowe, Council Member District 6 was absent. All Council Members were present via videoconferencing and a roll call was performed. Regular Session (This Regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) A. Call to Order — Canvass of the May 1, 2021 Bond Election, General Election, and Swearing In Ceremony Legislative Regular Agenda B. Consideration and possible action to approve a Resolution canvassing the election returns of the May 1, 2021 Special Mobility Bond Election, declaring the results to be official — Robyn Densmore, City Secretary Densmore presented the results of the Special Mobility Bond Election held May 1, 2021 as received from the Williamson County Elections office. She stated that the votes were as follows for the Mobility Bond — Proposition A: 5,395 votes were cast in favor of the proposition and 2,659 votes were cast in opposition of the proposition. Densmore read the caption. Motion by Pitts, second by Hood to approve the results as presented. Calixtro — Yes Hood — Yes Triggs — Yes Fought — Yes Pitts — Yes Jonrowe - Absent Gonzalez - Yes Approved 6-0 (Jonrowe absent). C. Consideration and possible action to approve a Resolution canvassing the votes of the May 1, 2021 General Election, declaring the results to be official -- Robyn Densmore, City Secretary Densmore presented the results of the General Election held May 1, 2021 from the Williamson County Elections office. She stated that the votes were as follows: for the position of Councilmember District 1 Amanda Parr received 279 votes Mary Calixtro received 183 votes; and for the position of Councilmember District 5, Jason Righteous Norwood received 316 votes and Kevin Pitts received 1,359 votes. Densmore read the caption. Motion by Gonzalez, second by Hood to approve the results as presented. Calixtro - Yes Hood - Yes Triggs - Yes Fought - Yes Pitts - Yes Jonrowe - Absent Gonzalez - Yes Approved 6-0 (Jonrowe absent). D. Presentation of appreciation to former Council Member, Mary Calixtro -- Mayor Josh Schroeder Calixtro was provided with flowers and a recognition plaque. E. Comments from former Council Member, Mary Calixtro -- Mayor Josh Schroeder Calixtro thanked those that supported her, the voters of District 1, and show appreciation to her fellow Council Members. F. Swearing in of elected Council Member District 1, Amanda Parr -- Robyn Densmore, City Secretary Judge Randy Stump performed the Statement of Appointed Officer and Oath of Office for Parr. G. Comments from newly elected District 1 Council Member, Amanda Parr -- Mayor Josh Schroeder Parr thanked those that worked on her campaign, the voters of District 1, and expressed her desire to perform the role of Council Member District 1. H. Swearing in of re-elected Council Member District 5, Kevin Pitts -- Robyn Densmore, City Secretary Judge Donna King performed the Statement of Appointed Officer and Oath of Office for Pitts. I. Comments from re-elected District 5 Council Member, Kevin Pitts -- Mayor Josh Schroeder Pitts thanked those that worked on her campaign, the voters of District 1, and expressed his desire to perform the role of Council Member District 5. J. Consideration of election from the dais of a Mayor Pro Tern -- Mayor Josh Schroeder Motion by Triggs to allow Pitts to continue to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, second by Gonzalez. Parr — Yes Hood — Yes Triggs — Yes Fought — Yes Pitts — Yes Jonrowe — Absent Gonzalez — Yes Approved 6-0 (Jonrowe absent). K. Swearing in of Mayor Pro Tern -- Robyn Densmore, City Secretary Judge Donna King performed the Statement of Appointed Officer and Oath of Office for Pitts. L. Comments from incoming Mayor Pro Tem -- Mayor Josh Schroeder Pitts thanked Council and expressed his desire to continue serving in the role. Adjournment Motion by Parr, second by Fought. Parr — Yes Hood — Yes Triggs — Yes Fought — Yes Pitts — Yes Jonrowe — Absent Gonzalez — Yes Approved 6-0 (Jonrowe absent).
