5. Statement of goals as your committee understands them:
a. Long-range:
Ensure that visible alterations to buildings in the Town Square Historical
District as identified in the Historic Preservation Ordinance and amendments,
are done in accord with The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabili-
tation when applicable. In addition, all alterations should be carried out in a
manner which is sensitive to the historic ambiance of the district whether the
construction is new or a restoration.
b. For this year:
Establish a procedure for automatic notification of building owners and tenants
of their responsibility for having all exterior alterations reviewed and approved
before actually carrying them out.

11. Does your committee have any questions ideas or
recommendations for the city staff and/or the City Council?
The Committee would simply like to reiterate the importance of continued
active participation on the City's part in furthering preservation efforts
in Georgetown. Participation in the C.L.G. program is a good example of
the kinds of effort that can be carried out by the City to strengthen the
preservation program. We urge continued participation in this program as well
as active pursuit of the recommendations made by City Staff in the H.P. Plan.
Any additional comments would be welcome.
Thank you for this report. Please sent it to the City Secretary
