The regular meeting convened at 5:30PM on August 20, 2020 via teleconference at

Program for the 87th State of Texas Legislative Session – Bridget Hinze Weber, Assistant to the City
Manager and David Morgan, City Manager and Snapper Carr, Focused Advocacy
Staff report presented by Bridget Hinze Weber, David Morgan and Snapper Carr reviewed the
attached presentation including the purpose and schedule of the Legislative Task Force, past state
legislation impacting cities and specifically the City of Georgetown, and a preview of the 87th Texas
Legislative Session.

•The House will elect a speaker in January
•The Legislature can hold committee hearing in the early days of session, but per the
constitution, legislators can’t pass any bills during the first 60 calendar days –unless
the governor declares it an emergency item or it’s an emergency appropriation
GEORGETOWN IG SCHEDULE
•July: IG Subcommittee begins meeting
•August –October: Meetings of the Legislative Task Force
•October: Develop 2021 State Legislative Agenda priorities
•November: 2021 State Legislative Agenda presented to Council
•January –May: 87th State Legislative Session
