Q(oQe1 ? 0 =(:1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS ESTABLISHING A LEGISLATIVE AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY GEORGETOWN AND A LEGISLATIVE TASK FORCE. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown's Intergovernmental Affairs Program advocates, coordinates, and advances the City's legislative agenda to enhance the City's ability to govern and provide essential municipal and community services; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the program is to ensure the City's interests are protected and enhanced through active involvement in the legislative process and strong intergovernmental relationships and to engage community leaders and partners organizations to advocate for the citizens of Georgetown; and WHEREAS, the creation of a standing Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee and a Legislative Task Force as part of the City's Intergovernmental Affairs Program will help ensure that the community is engaged and provide opportunities for greater advocacy on behalf of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1. The Legislative and Intergovernmental Subcommittee is hereby created and shall consist of the Mayor of the City and two City Council members. SECTION 2. The Legislative and Intergovernmental Subcommittee shall coordinate City policies related to state and federal legislative and local ordinances and shall oversee the following: • Development of state and federal legislative agendas ■ Position on local partner ordinances ■ Development of position papers ► Policies and programs that promote interagency cooperation • Advocating activities. SECTION 3. Councilmember Fought and Councilmember Jonrowe are hereby appointed to the City Council Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee for an initial term of two years. All future terms and any vacancy on the Subcommittee shall be filled pursuant to the provisions of the City Charter. SECTION 3. The Legislative Task Force is hereby created and shall consist of Chair of each of the City's Boards and Commissions. 1 SECTION 4. The Legislative Task Force shall meet during legislative sessions starting in 2021 and every year thereafter: + Review educational information from City staff, industry leaders, City Lobbyists on legislative sessions, current affairs, and the impact of legislation on City services. ■ Provide input to the Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee and City staff on proposed legislation + Engage with the community and advocate for the community during the Legislative Session.
