HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2020-22 - Utility System Advisory BoardOrdinance No. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, DELETING CHAPTER 2.109, TITLED "UTILITY SYSTEMS ADVISORY BOARD" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS; INCLUDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council is authorized by Section 2.14 of the City Charter with the power to establish boards, commissions and committees to assist it in carrying out its duties in accordance with State law; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the City of Georgetown and the City's Utility System customers to dissolve the current Utility Systems Advisory Board and establish separate utility advisory boards for electric and water/wastewater services; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to amend Title 2 of the Code of Ordinances by amending the current utility system advisory board and adding a new water/wastewater utility advisory board; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: Section 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. Section 2. All ordinances that are in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are, and the same are hereby, repealed and all other ordinances of the City not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. Section 3. If any provision of this Ordinance, or application thereof, to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. Section 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest. This Ordinance shall become effective on June 1, 2020 in accordance with the provisions of state law and the City Charter of the City of Georgetown.
