HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_04.11.2019City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes April 11, 2019 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session — To begin no earlier than 6:OOpm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene at Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551). Members Present: Ned Atkins, Keith Fruge, Nika Hazen, Sarah Vigil, Bart Bartleson, Anna Eby Members Absent: Laura Klein Plunkett Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:04pm. 1. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for March 2019 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Euthanasia percentage 0% b. Large increase in adoption percentage 56.6% c. Vaccine clinic in March huge success 2. Presentation on findings from visit to shelter with air conditioned dog kennels — Bart Bartleson a. Dogs appear calmer, possibility of air conditioning at Georgetown Animal Shelter pending budget. 3. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events for April 2019 - April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Library partnering 4/13 b. Girls Scouts making toys for adoption bags (pending date) c. Fundraiser at Rentsch April 18 d. Mayor Proclamation April 23 e. Spay/neuter clinic April 27 f. Red Poppy Festival booth April 26-28 4. Discussion on updates to proposed facilities and IT projects - April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Cement for dog kennels— timeline pending quotes b. Security cameras — live feed, focus on front gate, dog adoption, cat condo c. IT — increase Wi-Fi put in (added boosters) — to help with two tablets used for adoption information d. New computer workstation e. Lobbyguard should be up and working again within the next couple weeks 5. Presentation of ITSC request for volunteer management software - April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Benefits of Enterprise Plus Edition: include email/text right in software, cloud based; improve volunteer communication and hours tracking along with cost savings. 24/7/365 IT support by BI. 6. Review of current staffing levels — Nika Hazen, Board Chair a. Part time kennel tech is now full time b. New ACO Angela c. 2 part time office positions posted now 7. Presentation of 2019/2020 Animal Services Budget - April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Invested in volunteer shirts b. Increase amount of telephone lines for ACO — getting 2 city phones c. Overspent ACO uniforms due to turnover d. Budget requests: increase overtime budget and add additional full time animal kennel position to help with dog enrichment 8. Public wishing to address the board a. As of this time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from March 2019 — Nika Hazen, Board Chair a. Minutes reviewed by all present. No corrections/edits noted. Motion to accept minutes as submitted, Keith Fruge, seconded by Sarah Vigil, approved unanimously. 10. Consideration and possible action to elect Animal Shelter Advisory Board Officers — Nika Hazen, Board Chair a. Voted Secretary Laura Klein Plunkett; Bart Bartleson motioned and Anna Eby seconded, approved unanimously. b. Voted Vice Chair Keith Fruge; Bart Bartleson motioned and Ned Atkins seconded, approved unanimously. 11. Consideration and possible action to approve a change to the ACO uniforms - April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Currently dark shirt with khaki pants, would like to switch to lighter shirt and darker pants. ACO cannot look like police department, fire, code, or deployment team. b. Animal Control needs to be written on back of shirt and embroidered on front for officer. c. Change belt to tactical belt.
