HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_02.14.2019City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes February 14, 2019 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Anna Eby, Keith Fruge, Nika Hazen, Laura Klein Plunkett, Cinthia Medina, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:01 PM 1. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from January, 2019 — Nika Hazen, Board Chair a. Minutes reviewed by all present. No corrections/edits noted. Motion to accept minutes as submitted, Anna Eby; seconded Bart Bartleson; approved unanimously. 3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for January, 2019— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. 15 social media PSAs issued in January. Facebook reach has increased 77% over January and Instagram views total 14,805. b. The shelter participated in Career Day at The Nest. c. 68 dog intakes and 31 cat intakes in January, slightly higher than December. d. Cat Return to Owner percentage continues to be low due to owners not microchipping. 4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events for January 2019 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. The Nest will have interns at the shelter this summer. b. First free cat spay/neuter clinic to be held in February. c. Lexington ISD students will visit the shelter to make a YouTube video about the shelter. 5. Presentation of proposed facilities projects —April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. A new estimate was received for installation of cement block barriers between kennels that includes Board recommendations. The next step is an RFQ. b. Floors in dog kennels and catio are showing early signs of degradation and wear and will require resealing. Contractor that did the original work has been contacted about repairing/replacing the coating. 6. Presentation of current staffing plan —April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Reclassification of positions to effect needed organizational changes have been approved by City. b. A current ACO has resigned. The position will be posted and staff will interview and select two candidates, one to hire now and one to fill the additional position budgeted for April. These hires will increase the ACO staff to 4, allowing more call coverage. With no further business or discussion, Keith Fruge made a motion to adjourn. Cinthia Medina seconded.
