HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 82-24 - Abandon Clamp St356 ORDINANCE NO. 82-24 AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING ALL OF THAT SECTION OF CLAMP STREET THAT EXTENDS FROM PINE STREET TO THE MK&T RAILROAD AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT OF SAID STREET OF RECORD IN VOLUME 26, PAGE 321 OF THE DEED RECORDS OF WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, BUT RESERVING ALL PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENTS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown in 1946 attempted by resolution to disclaim and relinquish all right, title and interest of said City in and to a strip of land running from Pine Street of Said City east to the MK&T depot across the Clamp Addition to the said City at a place between and equidistance from Seventh Street and Eighth Street which said strip of land is designated as a street on the map of said city of record in Vol. 26, Page 321 of the Deed Records of Williamson County, Texas, and shown as Clamp Street on said map; and WHEREAS, since such action by the Council in 1946 such street has no longer been recognized as a public street; and WHEREAS, the present council of the City of Georgetown deems it necessary for public safety, health, comfort, convenience and welfare of the community of Georgetown to vacate, abandon and close said street and that it is in the public's best interest to do so; and WHEREAS, the Council further deems it in the City's best interest to retain all rights relative to public utility easements on, over and across the property so designated as "Clamp Street"; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN that the section of Clamp Street that extends from Pine Street to the MK&T Railroad in the Clamp Addition to the City of Georgetown as shown on the map of said City of record in Vol. 26, Page 321 of the Deed Records of Williamson County, Texas, and designated as "Clamp Street" is hereby VACATED, CLOSED and ABANDONED by said City, but all rights relative to public utility easements on, over and across said property herein referred to are not abandoned but are retained by the City of Georgetown. READ, PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading this 21 st day of September, 1982.
