HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_01.10.2019City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes January 10, 2019 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Keith Fruge, Nika Hazen, Laura Klein Plunkett, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Anna Eby, Cinthia Medina Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:07 PM I. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from December 2018 — Nika Hazen, Board Chair a. Minutes reviewed by all present. Nika's former last name was printed under the signature line in error, needing correction. Motion to accept pending that correction, Bart Bartleson; seconded Sarah Vigil; approved unanimously. 3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for December 2018— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Social media reach has grown to 5581 and Instagram presence has been enhanced. b. Two adoption events were held in December. a. 59 adoptions in December, only one euthanasia. b. Receiving a lot of coyote calls; cat, dog and wildlife nuisance are top three callout reasons. 4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events for January 2019 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. 2 PetSmart events scheduled c. Upcoming tours by Girl Scouts and Home School group. d. Staff will be at the Sun City Town Hall for outreach and education. e. PSAs planned include why residents should not feed deer, videos and newspaper articles. 5. Presentation of results from Texas Department of State Health Services Inspection for Animal Shelter, Impoundment, and Rabies Quarantine Facilities—April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. The shelter received a Satisfactory rating on the inspection. Five comments were noted, along with the observation by the inspection team that the shelter is one of the highlights of their inspection rotation. 6. Discussion on updates to proposed project to install cement in the dog adoption kennels—April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. There is no update on the proposed kennel barrier project other than the scope of the work will require a formal RFQ. With no further business or discussion, Laura Klein Plunkett made a motion to adjourn. Bart Bartleson seconded.
