The City Council met in regular session on the above date with
Mayor Jay'C. Sloan presiding. The following councilmen and officals
were present, William Eanes, Iiarry Gold, Joe Crawford, J. D.
Wininger, Ilubert Brock, City Manager Leo Wood, Asst. City Manager
Claud Eads, City Attorney Joe McMaster, Chief of Police John
Shearin, Fire Chief Jesse Lozano, and City Engineer W. It. Mullins.
Others present were Neal Bodie McCormick with General Telephone
Company, Rodney Montgomery, Bill Buchanan, Norma Harris, Ray
Henderson, K. Henderson, Georgetown Airport Manager Jim Boutwell,
Richard Mittanck, Fred Helgerman with the Zoning Commission and
William H. Stump.
Monthly Minutes Motion by Gold and seconded by Eanes that minutes of City Council
and Reports meetings held August 7, 1971 and August 30, 1971 be approved
as presented. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Jesse Lozano Jesse Lozano requested that the council purchase the following
Eire Department equipment for the Fire Department; Citizens Band Hadio, two-way
radio, exhaust fan and salvage covers. fie also asked for a salary
increase for paid fireman to equal amount of rookie policeman.
Motion by Crawford and seconded by Gold that the above
mentioned equipment be purchased. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
No action was taken on salary increase for fireman.

Rodney Montgomery
Rodney Montgomery presented the tabulated bids and engineers
Urban Renewal
recommendation for paving; in the Urban Renewal area.
Motion by Brock and seconded by Wininger that Urban Itenewal
bids be rejected and rebid the job. Motion carried by unanimous
vote.
Zoning Ordinance
A zoning change ordinance was presented to council to change
Mobil Home Park
6.92 acres from RP to C2 -A to permit use of a Mobil Home Park.
Motion by Wininger and seconded by Crawford that above
ordinance be passed. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordin-
ance Book #2 - Page 256)
Resolution for
A resolution for application of a mobil home park for Mr. Itay
Application of
Henderson, was presented by Bill Stump.
Mobil Home Park
Motion by Eanes and seconded by Gold that the above re-
solution be accepted. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Or-
diance Book #2 - Page 257)
Fred Helgerman
Fred Helgerman,representing the Zoning and Planning Commission,
Zoning & Planning
requested that the Council change certain zoning regulations in
Commission
lat sections.
Motion by Crawford and seconded by Eanes that City Attorney
McMaster prepare an ordinance to change the zoning in the Ithl section.
Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Jim Boutwell
Mr. Jim Boutwell, Airport Manager, was present to ask the ,Coun-
Airport Lease
cil for a new lease. His present lease would not terminate until
December 31, 1972, but Boutwell said that his plans would depend
upon getting the new lease.
Motion by Gold and seconded by Eanes that the Airport lease
to Mr. Boutwell be granted for three years from December 1972 to
December 1975.
Mayor Sloan stated that he was opposed to extension and renewal
of airport lease contract to Boutwell or anyone else so many months
ahead of expiration date.
Votes as follows: Ayes- Eanes and Gold. Noes- Wininger, Craw-
ford, and Brock. Motion failed.
Highway #29 Chief of Police John Shearin recommended that the Council
Parking pass an ordinance prohibiting parking on Highway #29 inside the
Ordinance city limits of Georgetown. This was after much study and also on
a recommendation of the State Highway Department.
Motion by Crawford and seconded by Brock that City Attorney
McMaster prepare an ordinance prohibiting parking on Highway #29
F to be presented to council at our next meeting. Motion carried by
unanimous vote.
Bill Mullins Bill Mullins was present and discussed the progress on our
Sewer Project sewer project on the East side of town. No action was taken.
Mayor Sloan stated that there would be a called Council
meeting on September 28, 1971, at 7:30 Y.M.
There being no further business on a motion by Crawford and
seconded by Gold the meeting adjourned.
