The City Council met in re^rular session on the above dnt.e,
N;ayor Jay C. Sloan presiding. The following; councilmen and
officials were present: William R. Eanes, Harry (Told, Hubert
Brock, Doyle Lyda, A. F. Davis, assistant City :Manager Claud
]vada and Airport Manager Jim Boutwel1. Others present were:
Miss Irene Henderson with American Statesman, Barry Nrown with
K.G.T.N. and The Williamson County Sun Publishing Company.
Minutes of Cormcil meetings held December 9,'1968, December
161 1968, Urecember 30, 1068 -and January 6, 19()9 were approved
as p res bated.
Motion by Eanes and seconded by Gold that General fund
bills in the arpourrt of $2,638.53 and Utility bills in amount of
05,307.06 be approved and paid. Motion carried by unanimous
vote.
Library k:eeting; was held with hug;ene ►lobart Lngineer. Mr. Hobart.
Hobart was instructed to proceed making preliminary plans for new
Library building construction to be with local field stone and
glass similar to present grousing Authority buildings located
near proposed library site.
Fire Truck Jesse Lozano, fire chief, is working on specifications for
new fire truck.
Airport Jim 13outwell reported that it would be necessary to obtain
12 acres of land on south end of airport in order to get state
and federal funds in resurfacing runways and taxi strips at
airport. !qtr. Borrtwell stated that if this could be done there
was a possibility of getting; State and Federal funds in amount
of 50;0 or more to apply on resurfacing; airport; and if the
city desired to that the funds would he available to get
assistance on lighting runways. Noutwell advised takir.r care
of Korth and South runways at present. Mr. Bout.well stoted
that he would help in anyway to get prograr^ started. Brock
and Lyda stated the;; would proceed to secure lease of 12 acres
of land that will be needed rather than buying if possible also
help in getting funds from state and federal government for project.
Mayor suggested that Mr. Boutwell get more information
on resurfacing; airport runways and taxi strips.

Library Report Library Progress Report
Circulation for the month of December showed 581 hooks. The aver—
age daily circulation was 25 and we had 11 new card holders.
In December the friends of the Library purchased 100 new books for
the children's room and the Youth shelf. 'dost, of them are for age 10
and up. In these books you'll find good fictions, mysteries, social
science, pure science, applied science, history, geography and biographies.
lVe bought these books from.. a salesman for Jean Karr & Company in.
Washington, D.C. If we bought as many as 100 we bot them for 81.80 each.
5o the cost was 1t30.00. 1tie feel that we hot a good bt►y since many
of these were $5.00 books.
79 used books were ;riven to us. In these we got a set of 'larvard
Classics which are in good condition.
Most of these books have been processed and put on the shelves.

Drawilibs Mayor stated that Mr. Hobart would present drawings and plans for
Pool, Lte. Swimming pool, U.L.U. Office and Day—Care Center on site near (tock and
4th Street at a later meeting with Council.
Air Control Mayor read letter from Texas :lir Control Board stating that City
cannot burn trash after .July 1, 1969.
lianager Council interviewed Mr. Don Dodge and Mr. 11. 11'. Chamberlain for
Applicants position of City 1laaager.
There being no further business, on motion by Brock and seconded
by Davis, meeting adjourned.
