The following councilmen and officials were present: William R. Eandes, Harry Gold, Pubert Brock, Doyle Lyds, A. F. Davis, Assistant City Manager Claud iiads and City Attorney Joe B. McMaster. Also present were Larry Brown with, Williamson County Sun and Miss Irene Henderson with American Stateamian of Austin, Texas. Brazos River 1ayor Sloan react a letter from Brazos River .authority stating in Authority part that dams on Sari Gabriel river would be built as soon as Congress (Dams appropriated the funds for building. 1.0.0.1. Bui ldin r (Library) mayor Sloan and Councilman Gold and Counciln.an Eanes met with Dave Ei)gelman and L. F. Averett in respect to use of I.O.O.F. buildin- for Georgetown area public library. The State representatives snugest.ed the city construct, a new builoirrg rat.lrer than trying to use the I.O.O.F. bpi ldin�.;. Library Planning and specifications must be to State Library Board by \'av 19(19 in order for City to participate in pro,ra-1 which ac,iounts to X50,00.00 paid by State Library Hoard. Also in order to secure this appropriation the building is required to have a mini:.ium of 5,000 square feet and cost a miniriu:r of 7100,000.00 to :111),000.110. �`.otion by Lar,es and seconded by Lyda that city engage Eugene Nohart to draw plans for a buildin,r of 5,000 square feet that would meet the state requirements. Votes as follows: Ayes: Ernes, Gold, Brock, Lyda and Ddvis. Noes: None. 94 Pecans Lyda stated that he had contacted 1,ay Thomas about leasing Thomas the pecan orchard in the sewer farm. Vr. Thomas agreed to nay City �150.00 per year for lease of orchard and spray and treat pecan trees and the City pay one half of cost of spraying and treating; treating trees. Lyda stated that Ere had contacted Sullivan as to the proposition that Thomas had made in regard to leasing the pecan orchard. Sullivan stated that he thout-lit it would be more profitable for him to use city labor and treat the trees and prune them which would be under his supervision and then have Ray Thomas ,,or the pecans on the halves as long_* as it was satisfactory to City and Thomas. Council decided to let Sullivan handle pecan orchard in the above stated manner. ?~tanager Leo Wood was interviewed for position of City Manager. No Applicant action was taken.
