Eanes, Harry Gold, !{ubert Brock, Doyle Lyda, A.F. Davis, Charles D. Lyeington - City Atanalrer, Claud Eads - Assistant City Manager, Joe B.' McMaster - City Attorney. Also present were Drew Ballard, Tommy Foust, J.M. burns, Bob Simmons with General Telephone Co.,James A. Rehler, and George Gregg. Minutes of meetings held October 1.1 and October 28 were approved as presented. I.O.O.F. Bldg Carl J. Doering presented a bid on the I.O.O.F. building in the amount Bid of $5,000.00. No action was taken on bid. Only one bid was submitted. C of C Letter The following letter from the Chamber of Commerce was read by !Mayor Sloan: The Honorable Jay Sloan, Mlayor, and Members of the City Council, City of Georgetown, Georgetown, Texas Gentlemen: In a report from the Community Action Committee of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, the following questions have arisen with regard to some of the obvious needs of the City. What is the status of City planning on, 1. Additional water supply. 2. Fire station and equipment 3. The Georgetown'Area Library housing. 4.' A municipal swimming pool. 5. A safe and decent City Police office. In the belief that an informed public is to be desired, and that the Chamber of Commerce may be helpful in this area, we are hopeful that you can supply us with the fullest information on these questions, including the projected time schedule for completion and the City's financial planning for implementing same. ?he unanimous opinion of the Community Action Committee was that the above projects are of vital importance to the continuing progress and outlook of Georgetown. May we point out, however, that the above listing of needs is in nomny.an attempt to establish priorities or to be all-inclusive. If there is any way in which the Chamber of Commerce can be of assistance to the City regarding these or other matters, you have but to ask. Copies to KUN and Sun for release 10-16-68 at Noon. Mayor stated that the Council was aware of all five items mentioned by the Chamber of Commerce. Each item listed was discussed by the Council and Mr. Hehler and Mr. Gregg from the Chamber of Co.,amerce. Loading; Zones Parking tickets issued to merchants using their assigned Loading Zones was called to the attention of the Council. Because there had been a number of complaints registered over the issuing of 2 hour parking tickets to merchants using the Loading Zone, the City Manager asked the Council how they intended to have the zones regulated. It was the decision of the Council that the ordinance stated that the zones were for expeditious 19ading and unloading of vehicles, not for parking a business vehicle. The City Manager stated that he would eo notifv all business establishments having a Loading Zone and clear up the matter. Sewer Service For The City Manager was requested to get information on the possi- Oak St. & Andice bility of providing sewer service on Oak Street in Williams Addition Rd. and on the Andice Road, and the cost of installation. This would be tied to our lift station on the Country Club Road. Hudson's Letter A letter was read from Less IIudson who is with W.H. Mullins hngineers Read of San Antonio, Texas. The City Manairer was asked to inform air. Hudson of the reading of his letter. Quarterly Meetings It was su:;gested by Councilman banes that the Council hold quarter - With C of C ly meetings with the Chamber of Commerce, in order to keep the Chamber of Commerce informed of what the city is doing. Letter of Resignation Motion was made by Eanes and seconded by Gold that Charles D. By City Manager Eyeinhton's letter of resignation be accepted and wished him good luck with his new position. ?november 1.4, 1968 Honorable Mayor Jay C. Sloan and City Council City of Georgetown Georgetown, Texas 78626 Gentlemen: I am submitting to you this date my resignation as City ?Manager of the City of Georgetown, effective November 30, 1968. Eyeington City Manager Iorne Motion by Lanes, seconded by Gold and passed by unanimous vote that Rule mayor Le authorized to appoint following persons and citizens of Georgetown Charter as a committee to study and to make recommendations to the city council and citizens of Georgetown the feasibility of adopting a 'tome Rule Charter, and to recommend the feasibility of calling any necessary referendums or elec- tions for those purposes. The selection of a city snanal;er was discussed and it was agreed to Adv. put an advertisement in the Town & City Magazine for City Etinttger for Georgetown. Since I do not plan to move my family until school is out, I will be back in Georgetown from time to time and I shall be happy to assist your new manager in any way that I can in orienting him with the various projects we have underway. C -D It has been my pleasure to vork with the governing body of Georgetown since July 1965 and I am deeply appreciative of the cooperation and kindness extended to me and my family. (lead 11avor stated that he would have meeting with dept. heads on Meeting; Tuesday, Dec. 3 and would like for any or all councilmen present that could attend. Airport Councilmen Gold stated that his committee on paving airport Itunways runways and taxi strips recommended to council that Seal Coat be used for paving both runways and taxi strips.
