C of C Letter The following letter from the Chamber of Commerce was read by !Mayor
Sloan:
The Honorable Jay Sloan, Mlayor, and
Members of the City Council,
City of Georgetown,
Georgetown, Texas
Gentlemen:
In a report from the Community Action Committee of the Georgetown
Chamber of Commerce, the following questions have arisen with regard
to some of the obvious needs of the City.
What is the status of City planning on,
1. Additional water supply.
2. Fire station and equipment
3. The Georgetown'Area Library housing.
4.' A municipal swimming pool.
5. A safe and decent City Police office.
In the belief that an informed public is to be desired, and that
the Chamber of Commerce may be helpful in this area, we are hopeful
that you can supply us with the fullest information on these
questions, including the projected time schedule for completion
and the City's financial planning for implementing same.
?he unanimous opinion of the Community Action Committee was that
the above projects are of vital importance to the continuing progress
and outlook of Georgetown. May we point out, however, that
the above listing of needs is in nomny.an attempt to establish
priorities or to be all-inclusive.
If there is any way in which the Chamber of Commerce can be of
assistance to the City regarding these or other matters, you have
but to ask.
May we hear from you on these matters at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely yours,
Signed Joe Crawford, President
CC: Mr. Charles D. lyeington, City Mgr.

by the Chamber of Commerce. Each item listed was discussed by the
Council and Mr. Hehler and Mr. Gregg from the Chamber of Co.,amerce.
Loading; Zones Parking tickets issued to merchants using their assigned Loading
Zones was called to the attention of the Council. Because there had
been a number of complaints registered over the issuing of 2 hour
parking tickets to merchants using the Loading Zone, the City Manager
asked the Council how they intended to have the zones regulated. It
was the decision of the Council that the ordinance stated that the
zones were for expeditious 19ading and unloading of vehicles, not for
parking a business vehicle. The City Manager stated that he would eo
notifv all business establishments having a Loading Zone and clear up
the matter.
Sewer Service For The City Manager was requested to get information on the possi-
Oak St. & Andice bility of providing sewer service on Oak Street in Williams Addition
Rd. and on the Andice Road, and the cost of installation. This would be
tied to our lift station on the Country Club Road.
