The City Council met in adjourned session on the above date, Mayor
Jay C. Sloan presiding. The following Councilmen and officails were
present: William R. runes, Harry Gold, Hubert Brock, Doyle Lyda, A.F.
Davis, City Manager Charles D. Eyeington, Assistant City Manager Claud Eads
and City Attorney Joe B. McMaster. Also present were: Drew Bullard,
Don Scarbrough, Mrs. Herbert Baker, Herbert Swenson, Sidney Perrin,
Emmett Mahlmann, spokesman for the Christ Lutheran Church and Mr. Davis
and Mr. Fry representing a group with Liberty Hill Telephone Company
and B. A. Erwin and Moody Burns representing General Telephone Company
of the Southwest.

Representatives from Liberty Hill Telephone Union were present con -

cerning amendment to Georgetown's franchise with the General Telephone
Company as requested by General Telephone Company. Mayor Sloan stated
that approving an ordinance that would in any way work a hardship on
the people of Liberty Hill or the surrounding community was not advisable.
Mr. Davis spoke for the Liberty Hill group stating that the rates
set by the General Telephone were too high and they wanted to continue
with the present Liberty Hill Telephone service.
Mr. Perry from Liberty Kill stated that he was not in favor of the
General Telephone Company's proposal to take over the Liberty Hill Tele-
phone Company.
Mr. B. A. Erwin stated that agreement had been approved to take over
Liberty Hill Telephone Company by General Telephone Company. Mr. Erwin
also stated that amended ordinance would not change merger of General
Telephone Company and Liberty Hill Telephone Company and that equipment
used in operating Liberty Hill Telephone would be charged to Georgetown's
exchange.
Mayor suggested that City Council not pass amended ordinance as
requested by General Telephone Company and also that a copy of the
ordinance be mailed to Mr. Fry and Mr. Davis of Liberty Hill.
19th Street
Attorney W. S. Lott, representing Christ Lutheran Church and members
Lutheran
of the church council, appeared before the City Council to review the
Church
agreement between Christ Lutheran Church and the City of Georgetown.
The City Council assured the group that the agreement would be com-
plied with. It was agreed that the sub -base material now in place would
be used and that lime mixture not be necessary providing the balance
of the work on the street conform to those specifications set out by
L.H.A. A five foot sidewalk would be a part of the street.
Verbal agreements between the city manager and the church council
were renewed and promised to be fulfilled. These were a street light
behind the church, correction of a drainage problem north of the church
parking lot, and to patch a leak in the water line between the church
and the motel.
Davis'Bldg. Report submitted by Dave Engleman on structural soundness of Davis
Structural building was discussed.
Soundness Mayor suggested that parking area south of the Old Davis Building
be blocked off from parking and also that a sign stating "Danger Brick
Falling" be placed at this location.

Close Alleys Sidney Perrin and Herbert Swenson requested the Council to close
College & three alleys between College and Walnut Streets north of 18th Street.
Walnut Mayor suggested that City Attorney advise City Manager as to the
disposition of closing the above mentioned property and that Mr. Jack
Gillum who is interested in closing alleys and Herbert Swenson write to
council requesting the closing of above mentioned alleys.
Livestock Roofing livestock sheds in San Gabriel Park was discussed. Mayor
Barns - Park Sloan suggested that livestock officials be contacted in reference to the
livestock association paying part of the expense of repairing the sheds.
Fire Ins. Letter from State Board of Insurance was discussed.
