The City Council met on the above date, Mayor Jay C. Sloan presiding;.
The following; Councilmen and officials were present. William It. Lanes, Harry (.gold,
Hubert If. Brock, Doyle Lyda, Edward Lee Evans, City Manager Charles D. Eyeing ton, A
Assistant City Manager Claud Eads, Chief of Police Frank Masur, Jr. and
City Attorney Joe B. Mcklaster. Others present were. Drew Ballard with
K.G.T.N., Airs. Baker with lfilliamson County Sun, falter Scudday, henry
Tays arid Earl Hodges.
Minutes of meetings held September 5, September 11 and Septetrtlrer 25
were approved as presented.
A,otion by Brock and seconded by Lanes that Utility Fund bills in the
amount of -$22,002.67 and General Fund bills in amount of •795,1.91 be approv-
ed arid paid , motion carried by unanimous vote.

The Committee named in your letter of August 7, 1967, hits helot 11 formal
meetings and have worked individually and in groups on the problert of
swinurning facilities for Georgetown. The following; report is submitted
alter inspection of pools in Austin arid Laredo consulting, with Mr. Gene
!iobart of Urban itenewai, Bryant-Curritrgton Inc., and numerous interested
citizens.
1. i-,rwaber of pools - one
2. Size of pool - ,junior olympic, 56' X 162' 'with diving; area
(8 lanes) and kiddie pool (1' depth 30 `i 30)
,i, Location - City property at Second Street and Park Road
South of old City gravel pit.

Swimming 4. Approximation of cost — At least X125,000, depending on related
Pool bath houses, concession stands, parking and picnic area develop—
ed at that time.
5. Suggested means of financing or funding pool — In a phone call
to to Mr. 11. E. Butts, Sr., Mr. Butts indicated that the grocery
company would support this local effort with at least $10,000
gift and 615,000 interest free loan, if the balance did not come
from bond issue which would raise advalorem taxes.
All efforts to secure grants should be made. Grants of 50`0
are available to communities qualifying from the Parks and
1>ildlife Commission and under Neighborhood Facilities section
of housing and Urban Development.
This conunittee sul,;;ests that the Council give consideration to adoption
of permissive city sales tax for the purpose of financing recreational
and cultural activities to serve the entire Georgetown trade territory.

Mayor Sloan suggested that City Manager Eyeirlgton contact Bryant
and Curington Engineers to get an estimate of costs, sets of plans and
0 their fees for services in connection with building swimming pool and
fees not to exceed X13()0.00.

U Independent School District in regard to their participation in building

Electric Mayor read a letter from Lewis B. Walker retarding the City of
Rate Georgetown's electric rate.

ment install lights. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

The City Council and Planning and 'honing Board met in joint
Session on the above date for the purpose of considerin- and
reviewing; new Zoaain,r ordinance. '1'1ae following Councilmen. and

Zoning" Mayor Sloan discussed the present Zoning procedure and the
Ordinance Zonint.ordinance being; considered at this hearing. No objection
was voiced against the new ordinance. All present seemed to be
in favor or new ordinance.

Article I. Name and Object
Tile name of this organization is Georgetown Area Public
Library Board. The object is to act as trustees for, and ad-
►;iinister the affairs or, the Library Board in conjunction with
the City of Georgetown and according to t1►e policies for g overn-
in g; the Library. A copy of the policies are attached to these
By-laws.
Article II. Membership
Section 1. Number of Members
The active Library Board shall consist of eight voting members,
including; the Mayor or his representative, and the President of
Friends of tt►e Library or his representative. Ex -officio members
