February 28, 1966
The City Council met on the above date in called session, Mayor R. S.
Elliott presiding. The following councilmen and officials were present:
Jay C. Sloan Hubert H. Brock, Doyle Lyda, Edward Lee Evans, A. W. Hoyt, Jr.;
stnaxpzusssUmaxa Charles. D. Eyeington, City Manager; and Claud Eads, City
Secretary.
C. A. Forbes, Stoke Holmes, Austin, Tyxas, Joe A. Osborne, Austin,
Texas, J., B. Jackson, San Antonio, G. B. Frances, San Antonio, C. D. Harris
of Dallas and Will Wilson of Austin were present in behalf of Humble Oil &
Refining Company, also present were, Harry Gold and James A. Rehler.
Lr. Wilson and Mr. Harris requested that the Council issue building
permit for the construction of aiiiumble Service Station.on North Interregional
�7 Highway #36. In lieu of the fact the specifications of Humble Refining
(� Company did not comply with the present Ordinance regulating the size of
Gasoline storage tanks Humble Oil & Refining Company was denied a building
permit for this service station. The Council stated that they would study
the proposition and discuss it with representatives of Humble Oil & Refining
Company at the next regular meeting of the Council which is March 14, 1966.

Jay C. Sloan and Hubert H. Brock was appointed by Mayor R. S. Elliott
to canvass the Bond election returns held on the 26th of February with the
following results.
FOR THE ISSUANCE OF WATER WORKS SYSTEM
IMPROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS ................................322 votes
AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF WATERWORKS SYSTEM
IMPROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS .............................."". 14 votes
FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT
REVENUE BONDS...........................................22 votes
AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVE-
MENT REVENUE BONDS ....................................... 13 votes
FOR THE ISSUANCE OF ELECTRIC LIGHT SYSTEM
IMPROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS ................................321 votes
AGAINST TIIE ISSUANCE OF ELECTRIC LIGHT
SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS .......................... 14 votes
Motion by Lyda and seconded by Evans that results of canvass be
accepted. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
W. W. Laubach and Doyle Clawson requested that the council sell small
portion of land which was a part of the old Dump ground to them. Motion by
Evans and seconded by Lyda that the Mayor and City Manager make a report
to the Council as to their recommendations at a later date. Motion carried
by unanimous vote.
Mayor Elliott appointed: James A. Rehler, Harry Gold, Wallace Evans,
Frank Lukea and Rodney Montgomery to serve as Urban Renewal Commissioners
Motion by Sloan and seconded by Hoyt that appointment be approved. Motion
carried by unanimous vote.
The City Manager pointed out that it was necessary that the Commissioners
be appointed for certain terms. It was moved by Councilman Sloan and
seconded by Councilman Lyda that Wallace Evans and Harry Gold be appointed
for terms of two years each and Frank Lukea, James Rehler and Rodney Montgomery;
for terms of one year each. The motion carried unanimously.

as follows:

OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 5 of the "Housing Authorities
Law" of the State of Texas, and by virtue of my office as Mayor:

I hereby appoint the two(2) persons names to serve as Commissioners
of th3Housing Authority of the City of Georgetown, Texas, and to serve for
the following two year terms:
Dr. James L. Shepherd March 15, 1966 to March 14, 1968
Dr. Hardy Clemons March 15, 1966 to March 14, 1968
I hereby certify that none of the above designated Commissioners
is an officer or empolyee of the City of Georgetown, Texas, but each of
said Commissioners is a resident thereof.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name as Mayor of
the City of Georgetown, Texas, and caused the official corporate seal
of the City of Georgetown, Texas, to be at is day of
February, 1966.
