April 14, 1984
The City Council met in Special Session on the above
date at 8:30 A.M. with Mayor Carl Doering presiding.
The following Councilmen and Officials were present:
Eb C. Girvin, Bill Connor, William C. Shell, Joan King,
City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary Pat Caballero,
Public Works Director Wink Walden and Planning Director
Renee Hanson.
Continue to Canvass
At this time Mayor Doering appointed Bill Connor and
Elections and Swear in
Eb Girvin to continue to canvass the election returns.
Officers
Upon completion of this Mayor Doring announced that Jim
Colbert received 527 votes. Motion by Connor and seconded
by Girvin to approve an order declaring the results of
the election and declaring Jim Colbert Councilman.
Motion carried by unanimous vote. At this time the
Oath of Office was administered to Jim Colbert and Mayor
Pro -tem William C. Shell. (Ord. Book # 5, Pages 251-252).
Bids - Country Club
The council considered bids for drainage pipe to be used
Drainage
in connection with the Country Club Drainage project.
The council noted the following bid submissions:
Resource Sales & Market - 260 feet of 21" HDPE -$4,472.00
1,000 feet of 24" HDPE - $20,500.00
American Utility Supply - 260 feet of 21" HDPE - $@,953.60
1,000 feet of 24" HDPE - $16,000.00
W. L. Walden informed the Council that the American Utility
Supply Co. proposal did not conform with the specifications
as set forth in the bid requirements. Motion by Connor
and seconded by Colbert to accept the bid submitted by
Resource Sales and Marketing Co. and approve the purchase
using Revenue Sharing money. Motion carried by unanimous
vote.
Approve Equipment The Council considered a request from Director of
Rental Public Works, Wink Walden for permission to use
Revenue Sharing money for equipment rental in association
with the Country Club Drainage project. Motion by Connor
and seonded by Shell to approve the use of the Revenue
Sharing money. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Request - Community Center- The Council heard a request from Cathy Corbett represent -
Heritage Society ing the Heritage Society to waive the fees for use of the
Community Center on October 26, 27 and 28, 1984. Motion
by Colbert and seconded by Connor approve the request.
Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Misc. At this time a discusssion was hel regarding the Flight
Service Station and the Council indicated that this
matter should be discussed at the next regular Council
meeting. Renee Hanson informed the Council that upon the
advice of City Attorney, Joe B. McMaster, no formal
action needed to be taken by the council regarding
cooperation with the County Health Department in regard
to subdivision control as this was simply a matter of
enforcing existing laws.
Adjourn Motion by Connor and seconded by Shell to adjourn. Motion
carried by unanimous vote.
