HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 12.12.1978 CC-R3 9 3 December 12, 1978 The City Council met in regular session on the above date at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Pro -Tem Harry Gold presiding. The following councilmen and officials were present. Lee Fulkes, William Shell, Kenneth Olson, Carl Doering, City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary W. L. Walden, Chief of Police Travis Thomas, City Inspector Tom Sams, City Planner Jim Colbert. Others present were Bob Kinipping, Verkel Turner, W. K. McClain, Tommy Thompson, Gene Hayden, David Erickson, Wilbur Calloway, Dick Geer and Herb Hansen. Monthly Minutes Motion by Shell and seconded by Olson to approve the minutes of the and Reports council meeting held on November 14, 1978. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Motion by Fulkes and seconded by Shell to approve General Fund bills in the amount of $7,986.37 and Utility Fund bills in the amount of $187,493.74. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Bids -Pickup The following bids were opened to furnish the City of Georgetown with Electrical Dept. a pickup for the Electric Department: Compton Motor Company $5,648.00 c}+ Rex Hawes Pontiac $5,964.96 Draeger Motor Company $5,895.00 Club Cab $6,705.00 t,? Georgetown Chrysler Plymouth $6,295.00 U Motion by Doering and seconded by Shell to accept the low bid of $5,648.00 from Compton Motor Company. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Abandon Esmt.- Motion by Shell and seconded by Doering to approve an Ordinance on Blk.3-Lots16817 first reading abandoning an easement between lots 16 8 17 in Block 3 of Oak Oak Crest I Crest Unit I Addition. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Rezoning -Lots Motion by Fulkes and seconded by Shell to approve an ordinance on f irst 384, Blk.7- reading rezoning lots 3 8 4 of Block 7 in the Glasscock Addition from R -S to Glasscock Addn. C2 -A. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Public Hearing- Motion by Doering and seconded by Fulkes to adopt a Resolution setting Annex. -Highland a time, place and date for a public hearing on the annexation of a portion of Park Highland Park Subdivision. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book #3 - Page x"269) Resubidivide Lot 12- Motion by Doering and seconded by Shell to approve the preliminary plat Coffee Addn, of the resubdivision of lot 12 in the Coffee Addition. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Rezoning- Motion by Shell and seconded by Olson to approve an Ordinance on 1301 Olive second and final reading rezoning the property at 1301 Olive Street from R -S to RM -1. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book 03 - Page #270-271) Annexation Motion by Doering and seconded by Fulkes to approve an Ordinance on Ord.-Andice Oaks second and final reading annexing Andice Oaks Subdivision into the city limits. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book #3 - Page #271-272) Annexation Ord.- Motion by Olson and seconded by Doering to approve an Ordinance on University Hills second and final reading annexing University Hills Unit It Subdivision into the City limits. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book #3 - Page #273-275) 394 Georgetown Youth Leo Wood and W. L. Walden reported that there would be room for a Recreation pee wee, junior and senior soccer field west of the new show barn. There is also room for a junior or senior field at the VFW Park. Motion by Doering and seconded by Olson to construct these fields. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 1977-1978 Audit David Erickson presented the 1977-1978 Audit along with a report. Report Motion by Fulkes and seconded by Shell ,to accept the audit and pay the bi II in the amount of $5,975.00. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Rescinding URA Motion by Doering and seconded by Shell to adopt a Resolution rescinding Sale of Lot the award of bid to Pat Guerrero on Parcel J-8 in the Urban Renewal Area. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book 03 - Page 0276) Airport Planning Motion by Doering and seconded by Olson to adopt a Resolution authorizing Grant the Mayor to accept on behalf of the City an offer by the USA Federal Aviation Administration to fund an Air ort Planning Grant. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book 73 - Page 0277) Advertise for Motion by Shell and seconded by Fulkes to authorize City Manager Bids -Patrol Car Leo Wood to advertise for bids on two patrol cars. Bids to be opened at the next regular council meeting to be held January 9, 1979. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Sales Tax Motion by Fulkes and seconded by Olson to approve an Ordinance on Ordinance second and final reading continuing the local sales and use tax on the sale and distribution of gas and electricity for residential use. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book #3 - Page +278) Electrical Fuel It was reported that the 105% fuel adjustment used for the past six Adjustment months has been satisfactory. There is approximately $700.00 in the Fuel Adjustment Account. It was decided to continue with the 105% fuel adjust- ment until such time that it needs to be changed. Electrical There was a discussion on the formation of an Electrical Licensing Licensing Board Board. Tom Sams is to form a committee to study this matter and report back to the council. The council instructed that a Resolution be drawn requesting that the lake be named Lake Georgetown instead of North Lake. Copies of the Resolution to be sent to Senator Tower and Congressman Pickle.
