Called City Council Meeting
August 18, 1978
The City Council met in special session at 4:05 p.m. o'clock on the above
date with Mayor John Doerfler presiding. The following councilmen and
officials were present: William Shell, Carl Doering, Harry Gold, Kenneth
Olson, City Secretary W. L. Walden, City Attorney Joe McMaster,
City Inspector Tom Sams, City Community Development Coordinator
Jim Colbert and Barbara Raney. Others present were: Jack Dixon,
Wilbur Calloway and John Walters.
Resolution -Urban Motion by Doering and seconded by Gold to adopt a Resolution
Renewal Closeout providing for the execution of a proposed Memorandum of Agreement between
the Urban Renewal Agency and the City of Georgetown. Motion carried
by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book 43 - Page #242)
Mayor Doerfler ordered that the following Waiver and Consent be
spread upon the Minutes:
WAIVER OF NOTICE OF AND CONSENT TO SPECIAL
MEETING
We, the undersigned, do hereby accept notice of this Special meeting,
waiving any and all irregularities in the service of notice and do hereby
consent and agree that the Members of the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, shall meet at its regular meeting place at 4:05 o'clock
p.m., on the 18th day of August, 1978, for the following purposes:
To consider a Resolution providing for the execution of a proposed
Memorandum of Agreement by and between the Urban Renewal
Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas, and the City of George-
town, Texas.
To transact any other business that may come before the meeting.

Cablevision Rate Joe McMaster reported that proper notice in the local newspaper
Increase should be given and a public hearing held on the Wi Iliamson County
Cablevision rate increase. Notice will be publiched in four publications
of the Williamson County paper and a public hearing will be held at 6:45p.m.
o'clock on the 12th day of September, 1978.
Texas Highway Dept. Motion by Gold and seconded by Doering to adopt a Resolution auth-
Resolution orizing the Mayor to enter into a Utility Joint Use Agreement between the
City of Georgetown and the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation. Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book03-
Page #243)
City Sales Tax The council was informed that if the City of Georgetown wished to
keep the one percent sales tax on residential use of electricity and natural
gas the tax would have to be reimposed by action of the City Council.
No action was taken until more information could be presented. This
matter to be discussed at the council meeting on the 12th day of September
1978.
There being no further business on a motion by Gold and seconded by
Olson the meeting adjourned.
