HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 07.19.1977 CC-S351 July 19, 1977 The City Council met in special session on the above date with Mayor John Doerfler presiding. The following councilmen and officials were present: Carl Doering, Kenneth Olson, Harry Gold, D. W. Scott, City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary W. L. Walden, City Inspector Tom Sams, Police Chief Travis Thomas and Water Superintendent Rex Wootan. Others present were: Charlie Farrow, Melissa Carroll, Harry Hunsicker and representatives of San Gabriel Heights Apts., and representatives of San Gabriel Homeowners Association. Award Bids -16" Motion by Gold and seconded by Doering to award a contract in the Raw -Water Line amount of $33,000.00 to Cullum & Dickhut Inc. for the construction of a 16" raw water line. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Parking Around A letter from Mr. Charlie Farrow concerning the parking around the square Square was presented to the council. Mayor Doerfler asked Olson and Gold to survey the downtown business area concerning the one hour parking. City Secretary Walden was instructed to bring to the next regular council meeting an ordinance for one hour parking around the square and for one block in each direction. cj San Gabriel After discussion on the San Gabriel Heights Apartments from all parties O Heights Apts. concerned, Doering moved seconded by Olson to postpone any action unti I the City Attorney could be consulted. A special council meeting was set for U 5:30 p.m. o'clock on the 29th day of July, 1977. Motion carried by unanimous V vote. Urban Renewal Motion by Gold and seconded by Olson to issue Certificates of Appreciation Board Members to all persons who served on the Urban Renewal Board. Motion carried by unanimous vote. At this time Mayor Doerfler announced that the council would meet in Executive Session under Article 6252-17 (Section 2(a) and Section 2(b) para. 3 V.A.T.C.S.) Tax Assessor After the Executive Session the meeting was again opera d to the public. Collector Motion by Gold and seconded by Olson to appoint L. H. McLaughlin as the City Tax Assessor Collector at a salary of $650.00 per month. Appointment to become effective at 8:00 a.m. o'clock on the 25th day of July, 1977. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
