HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 03.25.1976 CC-S303 March 25, 1976 The City Council met in special session on the above date with Mayor D. W. Scott presiding. The following councilmen and officials were present: William Shell, John Doerfler, Harry Gold, J. D. Wininger and William Luedecke, City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary W. L. Walden and City Attorney Joe McMaster. Others present were: Carl Kinslow, Donald R. McWright, Wayne L. Goodrum, Bob Simmons, N. B. McCormick, Jack Hopper, Jay Sloan, Harvey Brabandt, John Wakefield, Gene Martinka, Rodney Montgomery, Donna Jay and Buddy Adams. John Wakefield- John Wakefield, representing the 4-H Clubs, requested permission from 4-H Club the City to hold a 4-H Club Rifle Competition in the old Georgetown Oil Mill building. City Attorney Joe McMaster informed him that the match could be held under the Gun Ordinance by using the building as a shooting gallery. General Telephone At this time Mayor Scott recognized the General Telephone Representatives Rate Increase and asked Mr. Donald McWright if the procedural rules as outlined in an Ordinance passed June 9, 1975 relating to rules and regulations under which local utility service furnished, service rendered and rates and compensation �p charged had been followed. There was no reply to this question. �+ After General Telephone representatives had stated their request for a 0 rate increase; Jack Hopper, City of Georgetown Rate Consultant, replied that after studying General Telephone Company's records he could find no reason to grant a rate increase at this time. After further discussion, Mayor Scott suggested that the council take time to study these reports and consider the matter at the next regular council meeting to be held on the 12th day of April 1976 at 7:00 p.m. Motion by Wininger and seconded by Gold to table the matter of a rate increase until the suggested date. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Appointment to Mayor Scott, with the consentof the council, appointed Harold Moore Housing Auth- to a two year term on the Housing Authority Commission. Term to run from ori ty Board March 15, 1976 to March 14, 1978. Bid -Sub -Fire A report from the committee appointed to study the fire station bids Station was heard. Councilman Shell give the committee recommendation to accept the final low bid which will not exceed $100,000.00 from Alstan Corporation. Motion by Gold and seconded by Wininger to accept the recommendation. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Salary -Election Motion by Gold and seconded by Wininger to pay Election Judges and Officials Officials the maximum salary of $2.00 per hour. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Canvas of Motion by Gold and seconded by Luedecke to set a council meeting on Election the 5th day of April 1976 at 4:00 p.m. to canvas the election returns. Motion Returns carried by unanimous vote.
