MAY 10,1971
The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Mayor Jay C.
Sloan presiding. The following Councilmen and officals were present, William Eanes,
Harry Gold, Joe Crawford, J. D. Wininger, Hubert Brock, City Manager Leo Wood,
Asst. City Manager Claud Eads, City Attorney Joe McMaster and City Engineer W. Ii.
Mullins. Others present were Tim Wright, James Draeger, Roger Erickson, Lynn North,
Norma Iiarris, Charles Farrow Jr., Richard Mittanck and Gilbert Bredthauer.
Minutes of meetings held on April 5, April 12, April 16, April 19,
and April 27, 1971, were approved as presented.
Monthly Bills
Motion by Gold and seconded by Eanes that General fund bills
in the amount of $2,628.91 and Utility bills in the amount of
$24,919.57 be approved and paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Southeast
Bill Mullins stated that bids for the South East Sewer line
Sewer Line
construction would be ready for advertising as soon as federal
authority from the Water Quality Board approved the offer and
acceptance from the City.
Police Car
The following bids were opened on a new police car.

Motion by Brock and,seconded by Crawford that low bid on the
police car from Draeger Motor Company be accepted. Motion carried
by unanimous vote.
Swimming Pool
Mayor stated that the swimming pool dedication would be May 16,

1971, at 2:00 P.M. and that the pool would'be open until 6:00 P.M.
Swimming will be free on this day for all'children.
Electrical
The following bids were opened for Electrical supplies as a

part of our Capital Improvement Program. They were as follows.
Techline Inc. - Austin, Texas - $7,925.40 (Did not include switches)
P riester Supply Co. - Arlingtori - $8,200.00 (Less exceptions of
$000.00 - Switches not satisfactory)
Perry Shankle - San Antonio - $7,568.42 - (No bids on items #6,8,15,
and 16) '
Temple Inc. - San Antonio - $5,774.87 - (No bids on items #8,11,15,
and 16)
Mayor Sloan appointed J. D. Wininger, Iiubert Brock and Leo
Wood to make a study of bids on electrical supplies and report
lack to the Council at a later date.
Advertise for
Motion by Gold and seconded by Wininger that we advertise
Garbage Truck
for bids on a new truck and body to be opened June 14, 1971. Motion
& Body
carried by unanimous vote.
Zoning Ordinance
Mr. Tim Wright acting as Mr. Lynn North's attorney had requested
a zoning change on property in Country Club Estates. On a motion
by Eanes and seconded by Crawford that the above zoning ordinance
be passed and approved.
Motion carried by unanimous vote. (See Ordinance Book No. 2 -
Page 245-246)
Police Station
Motion by Gold and seconded by Wininger that plans and specifi-
cations be put out for bids to be opened June 7, 1971, for the
remodeling of the Police Station. Motion'carried by unanimous vote.
Urban Renewal
Motion by Gold and seconded by Eanes that the Urban Renewal bill
Bill
to Lee Roy Pseneik in the amount of $5,633.25, for construction of
water and sewer lines be approved and paid. Motion carried by
unanimous vote.
Watering
Motion by Brock and seconded by Eanes that streets be watered
of Streets
and that some type program be put in effect in the Urban Renewal
area for the summer. A study is to be made by Manager Wood.
Motion carried by unanimous vote.

At this point of the meeting Mayor Sloan had to leave Mayor Pro -tem
Brock took over the meeting.
Oak Crest Motion by Wininger and seconded by Lanes that the City pay the
Estates Refund difference in cost of 8 in. and 6 in. sewer line to be installed in Oak
on Sewer lines Crest Estates Riverside Unit. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Mayor Pro -tem Brock appointed Councilman Gold, Manager Wood and
Willie Robinson to make a cost study of serving Oak Crest Addition
with City electricity and report back to the Council as soon as possible.
There being no further business on a motion by Lanes and seconded
by Wininger the meeting adjourned.
