:Motion by Brock and seconded by Gold that the low bid of $590.00 by
RCA be accepted on the two-way radio. .Motion carried by unanimous vote.
The followin- bids were opened on a'-2 ton pickup.
Compton Motors 62,190.00
Draeger Motors 2,270.90
Motion by Brock and seconded by Eanes that the low bid of $2,190.00
by Compton Motors be accepted. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Buster Buster Loyd requested the council to grant periiiission far the para -
Loyd chute jumpers to have their meeting at the Georgetown Airport July 3,
4, and 5, 1971. The Mayor stated that the council would consider the request
at the next council meeting to be held February 22, 1971.
Pittsburg; Jack Marlett with the Pittsburg Des -Moines Steel Company requested
Des -Moines that the council reconsider liquidating damages incured during the
Steel construction of the water tower by his company.
The Mayor stated that according; to the contract the council did not
have the authority to deduct any of the charges. Mr. Marlett went hoTIle On
that.
Urban Virgil Carlson with the Urban Renewal Agency suggested that the coun-
Itenewal cil abandon 15 feet on 8th Street on the Tanksley and Old ',;utual Lumber
Company lot to the above owners.
Mayor Sloan stated that the request could be considered at the next
Council meeting, after the* City Attorney investigates the i:iatter.
Loading; David ;,layer and Vau-Tin Sanders asked the Council for loading zones on
Zones Hain and West 8th Streets. Both requests will be considered February 22,
1971, fit a called rieeting of the Council.
East Lynn Potion by Brock and seconded by Wininrer that a public hearing;
Annexation ordinance for annexation of the East Lynn addition be passed. '.'otion carried
by unauiiaoas vote. (Ordinance Book No. 2 - Pag;e 221
Mayor Sloan stated that there would be a public hearing* considering
annexation of the last Lynn Addition to the City of Geor;*etown February 22,
1971, at 7:30 P.M. o'clock.
The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Payor
Jay C. Sloan presiding;. The following councilmen and officials were pre-
sent, harry Gold, William Lanes, Joe urawford, J. D. lLininger, Hubert.
Brock, City Mainager Leo hood, Asst. City Managrer Claud L:acls, Bill Buchanan,
Richard Mittanck, James Draeger, Virgil Carlson, Muster Loyd, and Jack
Marlett with Pittsburg Des -Moines Steel Company.
Minutes
Minutes of Council meetings held January 5, January 11, January 21,
1971, were approved as presented.
Monthly
Motion by Gold and seconded by Lanes that General fund bills in the
Bills
amount of 15,092.38 and Utility bills in the amount of $18,396.70 be
approved and paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Election
Mayor Sloan appointed Mrs. It. D. Dibgs as judge and Mrs. Toni McAferty
Judges
as alternate judge for the city election to be held April 3, 1971, to elect
three councilmen.

Motion by Gold and seconded by Wining;er that the bill from T'echlines
Inc. Bill
Inc. in the amount of 6927.50,for street lialits, be approved and paid.

Construction of a sewer line on Oak Street was discussed. !4ayor
Sloan suggested that easements or other information be 1kcquired before
proceeding further.
I,lanager Mood stated that construction of the swilNning pool was ahead
of schedule.
Mayor ;loan presented the council with a check for 610,000.00 presented
to the City of Georgetown, from Mr. 11. E. Butt to be applied to the cost
of the swimming pool.
Motion by Brock and seconded by lanes that the Mayor write a letter
to A!r. Butt thanking him for the donation. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
!,favor Sloan stated that }ie had contacted officals of the Criminal
JusticeCounciland that the City would need to amend our application
for continuation of grant for the police station.
Motion by uold and seconded -by Wininger that .Manager Wood and Lngineer
Roger Lrickson make plans for remodeling the Gas Company Building- for the
Police Department and the City Hall. These to be presented at the next
council meeting. Also agreement of payment rates Giust be reached before
further work will be done.
There being no further business oil a motion by Crawford and seconded
by Gold the meeting adjourned.
