January 12, 1970
The City Council met in regular session on the above date with
Mayor Jay C. Sloan presiding. The following Council men and officals
were present Wm. R. Eanes, Harry Gold, Hubert Brock, Doyle Lyda,
A. F. Davis, Leo Wood - City Manager, Claud E ds - Asst. City Manager,
Joe Mc Master - City Attorney, Others presentRwere Wallace Evans,
Sum Brady, Bill Buchanan, Hobert Dean, E. C. Porsche, W. L. Routt,
Harold Parker, J. T. Parker, Bill Baker, Fred King, and Virgil Carlson.
Minutes of Council meetings held'December 8, and December 10th
were read and approved.
Monthly
Motion by Gold and seconded by Davis that General fund bills in the
Bills
amount of $3,855.54 and Utility bills in the amount of $16,443.31
be approved and paid with exception. of Mullins Inc. inasount of $240.00.
The bill on the Mullins Inc. was not paid due to the fact that the coun-
cil had not had the opportunity to review the study made by Mr. Mullins.
The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Zoning
A Zoning recommendation concerning 25 foot set backs on each

street an corner lots was discussed. After the discussion Mayor Sloan
appointed a committee of five men to study the matter, Those appointed
where Leo Wood Virgil erlson Elmer Fredrickson, Hrold Parker, and
Harbert Brock as Chairman.
Zoning
Motion by Brock and seconded by Gold that the Zoning Ordionce

General
General Liability and Workman Compensation for the City was
Liability
discussed, due to the Texas Torts Claim Act made effective January 1,
Insurance
1970 by state legislation. Several local agencies presented quotes and
discussed the importance of the City having aneh4coverage. After
hearing all of this information the council instructed Manager Wood
to get with agencies and try to work out a more complete pkain and
present it at the next meeting.
Deputy
Mayor Sloan appointed Houston Pennington, due to the death of
Tax
Mr. �,. S. Sanders, as depute Tax Collector at a salary of $250.00
Collector
per month for an undertermined time and authorized an audit of Tax
Collector and Assessor C. S. Sanders accounts.
Library
Motion by Gold and seconded by Eunes that Library payment estimate
Estimate
No. 3 in the amount of $24,763.29 be approved and paid. Motion carried

by unaniomous vote.
Harold
Motion by Gold and seconded by Lyda that Harold Parker's bill,
Parker
for the City's portion of 10" sewer line in the Grady Watkins Addition
behind Georgetown Inn, in the amount of $1,350.00 be approved and paid.
Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Lone Star
Mr. Rautt,with Lone Star Gas Co., made a presentation for rate
Gas
increases for his company. After mach discussion by both parties, Mr.
Routt made an offer to the Council of a yearly profit, after taxes,
of $26,842.23, for Lone Star Gas. The Council said they would table
the discussion and resume it at our next meeting.
Mayor Sloan stated that there would be a called meeting of the
City Council Monday, January 19th, 1970.
There being no further business on a motion by Davis and seconded
by Brock the meeting was adjourned.
