August 25, 1969
The City Council meet in called session on the above date,
Mayor Jay C. Sloan presiding. The following Councilmen and officials
were present Wm. R. Lanes, Barry Gold, Hubert Brock, Doyle Lyda,
A. F. Davis, Leo Wood City Manager, Claud Eads Asst. City Manager,
Joe B. McMaster City Attorney, Less Hudson City Engineer, also present
were: Bill Buchanan, Mrs..Herhert Baker, Ed Neff, Mrs. Cook and H. S.
Elliott.
Library A Motion was made by Eanea and seconded by Gold that the statement present -
Architect ed by Eugene Hobart, Library Architect, in the amount of $5,283.00
Bill or 75% of the total contract be paid. Mr. Hobart's bill was for
architect fees for Georgetown Area Library. Motion was carried by
unanimous vote.
Letter A letter from the State Health Department was read by Mayor Sloan stating
Approving that the plans submitted by Manager Wood for the Swimming pool had been
Swimming approved and that the City could advertise for bids.
Pool
Core Test The Council suggested that a core test be taken and attach an Addendum
At Pool to the swumming pool's plans.pertaining to fill dirt around the swimming
Site pool. Mayor Sloan.stated that he would contact Mr. A. E. Butt with refrence
to a $10,000.00 gift from Mr. Butt for construction of a swimming pool
for the city of Georgetown,
Mr. R. S. Mr. R. -S. Hinton asked the council to change speed limits on Austin Ave.
Hinton from Dairy Bill to 5th. Street on Austin Ave. from 45 to -35 miles per
Appearing on hour. Mayor Sloan stated that the Highway Department controlled speed
Speed Limit limits on Austin Ave. and the Council did not have the authority to change
and Dogs the ppeed limits.
Mr..Hinton asked the council to erect a stop sign at Rock and 3rd. Streets.
Mayor Sloan stated that City Manager and Chief of Police would check into
the matter.
Mayor Sloan read a letter from the Humane Society of Austin and Travis
County as to the disposition of animals. No action was taken on our way
of handling stray dogs.
Mrs. 0. M. Manager Wood presented the council with an itimized statement from Mrs.
Fletcher 0. M. Fletcher stating the amount of meat lost in her deep freeze,due to
Power the power failure caused by a storm Aug. 14th. The Council suggested that
Failure Manger wood determine if the loss was due to the negligence of the City
employees and if not the council felt like the city was not responsible
for Mrs. Fletcher's Loss.
Sheriff's A motion by Lanes and seconded by Lyda that a resolution authorizing Mayor
Posse Sloan to execute a lease agreement with the Williamson County Sheriff's
Resolution posse for a period of 10 years. Motion carried by unanimous vote. See
files for lease agreement.

There being no futther business,on a motion by Davis and seconded by Brock
the meeting was adjourned.
