The City Council met in called session on the above date with
Mayor Jay C. Sloan presiding. The following Councilmen and officials
were present: Barry Gold, Hubert Brock, William It. Lanes, Charles
D. Eyeington - City Manager, Claud Eads - Assistant City Manager,
Claudie Mayo - Electric Supt., Joe B. McMaster - City Attorney. Also
present were Drew Ballard from K.G.T.N., Airs, Herbert linker from the
Williamson County Sun Publishing Company, and Chas Farrow .
Claudie Mayo, Superintendent of the Electric Department,presented
each member present a copy of his preliminary study of the hate
Schedule by Lewis Walker tied into a feasiability study of furnishing
power to the Texas Crushed Stone Company proposed new stone crushing
operation. After reviewing the study, it was felt that at this time
that it was not financially feasiable for the city to make the exten-
sion.
Traffic Lights Erection of traffic lights at 8th and Alain and at 7th and Main
was discussed. No action was taken. Council suggested that the
City Manager check.with school in regard to traffic light at 15th and Laurel
Streets, as to the type of light at above address. Approval was given
to replace the light with a new one.
Airport Runways Mayor suggested that Hubert Brock work with City Manager and
Councilman Lyda concerning re -surfacing airport runways. Motion was
C.O made by Lanes and seconded by Brock that the Mayor be authorized to exe-
cute the ordinance with Municipal Maintenance agreement with Texas
Highway Department. Motion carried by unanimous vote. See file.
C.U.G. 1:otion was made by Gold and seconded by Brock that the city enter
into agreement with C.O.G. subject to recommendation of City Attorney
McMaster. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
7th & Church Chas Farrow suggested that the city arrange for more lighting
near his business at Church & 7th Streets, and he would like a clock
for rightivatchman to check near his place at the same address. Mr.
Farrow lso stated that he was unable to understand the operator at
the plant over radio.
Mayor stated that there would be a council meeting on November 4th
and November 18th, 1968.
There being no further business, on motion by Eanes and seconded by
Brock, meeting adjourned.
