HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 05.06.1968 CC-R62 May 6, 1968 The City Council met on the above date, Mayor Jay C. Sloan presiding. the following Councilmen and officials were present: William R. Eanes, Harry Gold, Hubert Brock, Doyle Lyda, A. F. Davis, City Man- ager Charles D. Eyeington and Assistant City Manager Claud Eads. Council to Mayor stated that Council meetings would adjourn at 10:30 and if Adjourn 10:30 all business was not completed that the Council would reconvene on the following Monday night. Also present were: James A. R"hler, City Attorney Joe B. McMaster, Drew Ballard with K.G.T.N. Radio Station, Mrs. Herbert Raker with Williamson County Sun Publishing Company, Chamber of Commerce Manager George Gregg, James A. Draeger, A. P. Prude, Milton Cockrum and Fire Chief Jesse Lozano. Minutes of Council meeting held April 8, 1968 were approved as presented. Motion by Gold and seconded by Eanes that General Fund bills in the amount of $3,321.63 and Utility Fund bills in the amount of $18,777.TS were approved and authorized paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Garbage Truck The following bid were considered: Chassis Compton Motors $4,919.73 Draeger Motor Company $4,785.00 Garbage Truck The following bids were considered: Packer Unit Hobbs Hyd-Pak $40520.00 Tampo Manufacturing Co. 4,718.70 Pak -Mor Company 4,727.25 Davis Truck & Eqp. Co. 4,750.00 Girard Machinery Co. 51284.16 Mayor suggested that: Brock, Sullivan and Manager Eyeington check the specifications on the above bids and report back to the council at a later date. Mr. Beaver with Davis Truck and Equipment Company stated that his Company would have a complete line of parts in San Antonio, Texas. Livestock Milton Cockrum and A.P. Prude representing the Williamson County Barns'(Park) Livestock Association requested the Council put new roof on livestock building in the San Gabriel Park. Motion by Lyda and seconded by Gold that cost of repairs be as- certained with possibility of city employees doing the work. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Parade Float Chamber of Commerce Manager George Gregg asked the council to participate in the cost of a float to be used in central Texas parades. No action was taken. State Board of Fire Chief Jesse Lozano stated that the time given the City by Fire Insurance the State Board of Insurance Commissioners for the replacement of our 1922 fire truck had expired. Mayor suggested that City Manager check his files to ascertain the expiration date and report back to the council. Mr. Lozano stated that Saturday, May 11th would be state Firemen's recognition day. Spring St. Ray Henderson requested the City Council sell or lease west portion Ray Henderson of Spring Street to him. Mayor suggested that City Manager Eyeington check into the matter with City Attorney Joe McMaster as to the dedication of streets to city and dedication to the present property owners. 5o. Pine Street City Manager reported on South Pine Street R.O.W. and that he had I.O.W. contacted Jose Richarte on the phone but Jose would do nothing until his brother Nat had made a decision. The manager attemped a number of times to phone Nat - each time he was not at home - he would continue trying. The securing of new street was at a stand still pending dis- cussion with Vat. Frank Torres has agreed to an extension of time. al H C.� C� N O V V 63 Davis Bldg. Manager Eyeington stated that report from structural engineers on Falling" be placed at this location. T Close Alleys Sidney Perrin and Herbert Swenson requested the Council to close College & three alleys between College and Walnut Streets north of 18th Street. Walnut Mayor suggested that City Attorney advise City Manager as to the disposition of closing the above mentioned property and that Mr. Jack Gillum who is interested in closing alleys and Herbert Swenson write to council requesting the closing of above mentioned alleys. Livestock Roofing livestock sheds in San Gabriel Park was discussed. Mayor Barns - Park Sloan suggested that livestock officials be contacted in reference to the livestock association paying part of the expense of repairing the sheds. Fire Ins. Letter from State Board of Insurance was discussed. Water Mayor suggested that City Manager Eyeington secure information Treatment about water treatment plant and contact Mr. Hobart about whether there Plant are any federal funds available for the project. THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF WILLIAMSON APPLICATION AND PETITION FOR AM12ND1NffNT TO THE ZONING REGULATIONS AND MAP TO THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Comes now Tom Sexton, owner of the tract of land described on Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes, here- inafter called Petitioner, and files and makes this his request to the City Council and the City Planning and Zoning Commission that the 'Zoning on said property be changed from its present zoning status of "Residential" Minutes of council meeting held May 6 and called session held May 20th were approved as presented. Motion by Gold and seconded by Brock that general fund bills in the amount of $3,239.22 and utility fund bills in the amount of $18,816.94 be approved and ordered paid. Stray Dogs Stray dog condition was discussed at length. Council instructed the manager to build a suitable pound at the sewer disposal plant and employ a dog catcher to pick up stray dogs. Water Treat- Water treating report was discussed and also the condition of ment our water treating at the present time. No action was taken. Civil Defense Report from Dept. of Public Safety, Division of Defense & Disaster Relief was presented stating that we were eligible to participate during the year 1969. Zoning Joe McMaster stated that the zoning board had asked him to recommend Change to the council that the council approve tentatively Sexton's application (sexton) for the following zoning change: . . .
