The following Councilmen and officials were present: William R. Eanes, Harry Gold, Hubert Brock, Doyle Lyda, A. -F. Davis, City Manager Charles D. Eyeington, Assistant City Manager Claud Eads and City Police Chief Frank Massur, Jr. Others present were: Rodney Montgomery, James A..Rehler, Wallace Evans, Jim Rector, C. A. Forbes, M. H. McClelland, B. A. Erwin, Bill Kling of Bryan and Less Hudson. Canvass election Mayor appointed William R. Eanes and Harry L. Gold to canvass Returns election returns of council election held April 6, 1968. CANVASS OF RETURNS: TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: We your committee appointed to canvass the returns of the regular City Election held on April 6, 1968, to elect: (1) Mayor (Full Term) and (2) Alderman for a two year term each, report as follows: That Jay C. Sloan received 600 votes for Mayor, That Doyle E. Lyda received 400 votes for Alderman That A. F. Davis received 475 votes for Alderman, That J. D. Wininger received 318 votes for Alderman. Total votes cast 621. Signed P41liam R. E e ....� '�1gnid Harry L: old Jay C. Sloan was sworn in as Mayor for a two,year term. A. F. Davis and Deyle Lyda were sworn in as Councilmen for a term of two years each. Minutes of regular meeting held March 11, and called meeting held April 1, 1968 were approved as presented. Motion by Eanes and seconded by Gold that General Fund bills in the amount of $ 1,859.83 and Utility Fund bills in the amount of $ 18,168.20 be approved and paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Eubank Street Less Hudson discussed costs of drainage in area of Eubank Street Drainage and 17th and 18th Streets with the council stating that the cost would be $38,700.00. First phase of drainage at a cost of $19,600.00 and second phase at a cost of $19,120.00. Mayor suggested that above project be at top of list in 1968 and 1969 budget. Urban Renewal A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Approve Plan APPROVING THE RE.'VISED URBAN RENEWAL PLAN AND THE FEASIBILITY OF RELOCATION FOR PROJECT NO. TEX R-102. (Ord. Bk II, Page 114-118) Motion by Eanes and seconded by Brock that the above resolution be adopted. Votes as follows: Ayes: Eanes, Gold, Brock, Lyda, Davis. Noes: None. Urban Renewal RLSOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, Authorizing AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE COOPEE3ATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN Cooperation THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN AND THE GEORGETOWN URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY OF Agreement GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, WITH RESPECT TO SOUTH SAN GABRIEL URBAN RENEWAL AREA, PROJECT NO. TEX R-102. (Ord Bk II, Page 118-119) Motion by Brock and seconded by Gold that Mayor be authorised to enter into eoepaaation agreement betweenethe City of Georgetown and the Urban-Yeaewal Agency of the City of Georgetown. Urban Renewal COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS AND Cooperation THE URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY OF THE CITY OF GEOTGETOWN, TEXAS, WITH Agreement RESPECT TO THE REVISED URBAN RENEWAL PLAN FOR THE SOUTH SAN GABRIEL URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT NO. TEX R-102. (Ord. Bk II, Page 119-122) Votes as follows: Ayes: Eanes, Gold, Brock, Lyda and Davis, Noes: Kone. 61 San Gabriel Motion by Lyda and seconded by Eanes that plat for San Gabriel Hills Hills be approved for recording, subject to approval of City Attorney and City Engineers. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Telephone Co. B. A. Erwin, Division Manager of General Telephone Company of the (Liberty Hill) Southwest, presented an ordinance to Council for consideration which oonsisted of addition to the present franchise with General Telephone Company that would include Liberty hill office A.E.S. service which means that Georgetown would be able to dial Liberty Bill without toll charges. Mayor suggested that ordinance be referred to Joe McMaster, City Attorney and would be taken up at next council meeting. Pine Street City Manager Eyeington reported that -he was negotiating with a number to San Jose of property owners in acquiring right-of-way for south Pine Street. Davis Bldg. Davis Building was discussed and council recommended that Eugene Hobart, planning engineer, be contacted as to the structural soundness of the building. Sewer Exten- Less Hudson discussed at length plans for installing sewer for sion North San Gabriel Park Area including the Georgetown Football field and areas in the northwest portion of Parker Addition and area. No action was taken. Garbage Truck Mayor appointed.Brock, Sullivan and Eyeington to secure specifica- tiona for a 20 cubic yard garbage truck. Billing Mach. New billing machine that was ordered was discussed as to whether to buy machine outright.or lease -agreement. No action was taken. Student The following persons will participate in Student Government Day Government on April:ll, 1968: Day Mayor Tom Swift Councilmen: Charles Eyeington Manuel Zavalla John Dodson Johnnie Williams City Manager Steve Whitfield City City Recreation Board has leased Shell pool for Recreation use only. Recreation Insurance is carried by Sam Brady Insurance Company. City is to test Pool water daily. Appointments: Mayor appointed the following for one year terms: City Officials C. S. Sanders - Tax Assessor -Collector Claud Eads, City Secretary and City Treasurer DR. Douglas Benold - City Health Officer Recreation Mayor appointed Hubert Brock,-Doyle.Lyda.and A. F. Davis to serve Board one year on City Recreation Board.
